Chapter 246
On her first day on the job, Thalassa knew she had to be on her toes and play her cards right
The boss’s orders were not to be taken lightly.
Thalassa was on pins and needles the whole time.
Even the familiar voices didn’t get a chance to register in her mind.
As soon as she hung up the phone, she made a beeline for the boss’s office
Upon reaching the office door, she noticed it was ajar.
Peeking inside, she saw the boss sitting in his chair, his face hidden behind his computer.
Thalassa knocked on the door politely.
“Come in”
With permission, Thalassa walked in. She maintained a polite smile and respectfully asked, “Sir, I’m
here. Which files do you need me to
sort?”
The man pinched a pile of documents and placed them on the edge of the table. His fingers were

His gaze never left the computer screen, and his face was obscured by the monitor.
“Sort those documents here.” He lowered his voice deliberately, sounding authoritative.
Thalassa smiled and said, “Sure thing.”
She stepped forward, took the documents from him, and started sorting them on the table..
Even though the boss didn’t tell her how to sort them, Thalassa had been trained in document
classification.
She skimmed through the files, quickly figuring out how to sort them.
As she was diligently sorting files by category, she suddenly felt someone above her head. Then, a low
chuckle echoed, the breath from the laughter sprayed onto her.
Thalassa gasped. She quickly looked up and nearly bumped into the man’s chin.
Thalassa quickly turned her head to avoid the contact.
Upon a closer look, she found it was Leopold. He was propping up on the table, laughing heartily.
Thalassa halted her action, her eyes wide in surprise.
“Leopold!” she exclaimed in shock.
“Mmm, I do love it when you call my name.” Leopold grinned.
Taking a deep breath, Thalassa asked, “You’re the boss?”
Leopold laughed, “Yeah, didn’t you recognize my voice?”
Thalassa rubbed her forehead and said in frustration, “I came here to work.”
“I hired you fair and square,” Leopold said.
Thalassa put down the files, stood up and said seriously, “I think I’m going to quit.”
She had thought that the company hired her for her skills, for the two years of stellar academic
performance at Starhaven College, for being an outstanding student every year in her academic life.
At the very least, the company should have hired her for her one–day secretary experience at the
Sinclair Group.
But it turned out Leopold was the boss of the company!
So, she didn’t get the job through the interview, but rather, Leopold told the interviewer to hire her over
the phone.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmShe wanted to quit, not because Leopold hired her directly, but because she didn’t want anything to do
with Leopold anymore.
She didn’t want to work in his company, be his secretary, see him every day, and constantly interact
with him for work.
She didn’t want Leopold to think that she had forgiven him, or that she would give him another chance.
If she decided to cut ties, she would cut them completely.
After saying all this, she turned to leave, but Leopold said, “Thalassa, don’t make decisions in the heat
of the moment. If you quit, and I don’t agree, you’ll have to pay a good chunk of penalty to the
company.”
Thalassa stopped and turned to look at Leopold.

was such a classic Sinclair family capitalist move, and the methods were exactly the same.
People got jobs to make money, but she had to pay to quit.
It was always so unfair! Absolutely crappy!
Thalassa seemed somewhat helpless and said, “Well, you could just let me quit
