Leopold said, "You should know that custody of the Stirling family's son stays within the Stirling family." Aurelia was well aware, so she kept William's lineage a secret. A headstrong man like Leopold would undoubtedly snatch away her William if he knew.
"Do you know the biggest difference between you and Arnold? He consults withon everything and considers my feelings and opinions. On the contrary, you always make decisions by yourself without regard for how | feel." Her words left Leopold feeling helpless and gloomy.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHe'd never measure up to Arnold in her heart, would he? Arnold was the man she truly wanted to marry. If it hadn't been for his coercion, she would never have agreed to remarry.
"You're just looking at him through rose-colored glasses." She scoffed. "I don't look at anyone through rose-colored glasses. I'm down to the ground. You've broken my heart, and it won't heal so quickly." Leopold sighed. Her ability to heal was indeed poor, and he was hurting, too. How could he feel okay when she was in pain? "Maybe | should get you svitamins to help heal those wounds faster." Aurelia rolled her eyes, picked up a chocolate from the table, and began to eat, not wanting to deal with him any longer.
In the garden, the children were feeding the fish.
William glanced at Arnold beside him.
"Daddy, can you bring Nova over tomorrow? She'd be over the moon to celebrate Nibbles' birthday." "Of course." Arnold smiled indulgently.
He had deliberately stayed away from Aurelia and Leopold, choosing to be in the garden instead.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmArnold was a man of manners. Now that Aurelia and Leopold had remarried, he maintained a respectful distance from Aurelia, even as a family.
The Stirling family rules were strict, and he didn't want to cause Aurelia any trouble.
Suddenly, Skyler said, "Arnold, | think you all should move to Nepal, where a woman can marry two brothers. That way, you could all live with Angel, and no one would be sad." Arnold choked on his spit.
Kids say the darnedest things! "Skyler, play with them. I'll take a walk," Arnold said, opting for avoidance as the best way to ease the awkwardness.
He headed toward the bush.
Skyler hummed to himself. "I think it's a good suggestion." William made a face. "The Stirling family sticks to their rules no matter where they are. As head of the Stirling family, is Uncle Leopold going to Nepal? Impossible." Skyler stuck out his tongue. "Adults are so complicated. Kids have it better. We don't have all these worries." Nina looked at him curiously. "Skyler, haven't you ever had anything to worry about?" Skyler shrugged. "Sure, but it doesn't botheras long as | don't think about it." Nina said, "lI get most worried during exams, always fretting that someone might beatand | won't be first anymore." Standing by, Mira interrupted childishly, "I don't like school or exams. | only like to play. If | could play every day, I'm sure I'd never worry." Nina crossed her arms like an adult, scrutinizing her, "Mira, did you cin last on your midterms again?" Mira pouted. "That's because | don't like to use my brain. If | did, | could do well, too." Nina sighed. "You're hopeless." Mira batted her eyelashes, replying, "Nina, the Stirling family needs to allow a sweet, simple soul like me. Not everyone has to be top of the class." Nina sighed. "Why do you enjoy being the sweet, simple one?" "Because the Stirling family doesn't have many like that," Mira stated earnestly. "I hate to rack my brain." "If you don't use your brain, it'll rot." "Then let it rot," Mira declared with a grin.
