Skyler returned and plopped down beside her. She poured him a glass of chilled lemonade.
"Did you visit Raines at the hospital?" Aurelia asked.
"Yep." Skyler nodded, lifting the glass to his lips and taking a generous gulp. It tasted heavenly.
"He's dead set on blamingfor the poison and tried to trickinto giving him an antidote. As if I'd fall for that."
Aurelia let out a mocking laugh, "He seems to know you pretty well for someone who's spent so much tabroad. That's not
normal."
Skyler said, "Because he's not the real Raines. It might even be Geoffrey. Remember when | said | was better looking than Geoffrey,
that really got under his skin. Classic Geoffrey, always quick to anger, lashing out at me."
Aurelia chuckled, "If it is Geoffrey, then we've got him right where we want him."
Geoffrey was a spider trapped in its own web.

Skyler carefully rolled up his sleeves and picked up a tangerine, peeling and eating it with relish.
He was wearing new cufflinks today, a Christmas gift custom-made by Angel. They were stunning, and Skyler adored them.
"We've pinned the blon Geoffrey and he must be livid, about to explode with rage."
Aurelia snorted, "It's like fighting fire with fire. He's always scheming, plotting to poison someone. Doesn't he deserve a taste of his
medicine?"
If it weren't for her luck, she'd have died a hundred times over.
Skyler said, "Angel, you're right. Geoffrey deserves a lesson for having no respect for life. It's Tanya's doing. She spoiled him rotten
and never let him experience real love or affection. No wonder he's incapable of anything but harm."
Aurelia bit into an apple.
With Tanya, there was no love or affection, only ambition and desire. How could she raise a child right?
To her, Geoffrey and Skyler were just pawns in her gof revenge.
How ironic! Tanya was so lovesick, willing to turn against her sister and her family for a man.
Chad was nothing but a womanizing cad, a heartbreaker. What was it about him that drove women to madness?
Was it just because Chad was easy on the eyes?
"Kane and William are upstairs. Why don't you go hang with them? Dinner will be ready when your cousin gets back."
"Okay." Skyler nodded and scampered off upstairs.
The next day, Leopold took Aurelia to the hospital for a secret prenatal checkup. The doctor conducted an ultrasound for Aurelia.
"Wow, you have two gestational sacs, Mrs. Stirling. You're expecting twins."
What? Aurelia was taken aback. Twins, again? She was supposed to have a hard tconceiving, and yet here she was, pregnant
with twins?
Leopold beceven more protective of his wife. Twins could be a handful, and these two seemed particularly lively, unlike their
serene Kane and Liam.

Leaving the hospital, Leopold gently touched Aurelia’s belly, "Out of all our kids, Kane is still the best behaved."
The emperor favored the eldest son but the people adored the youngest.
No matter how many more children they had, his favorite would always be Kane.
Aurelia playfully glared at him, "Already complaining about our coming babies before they're even born?"
"These two are such a handful, keeping you from eating and sleeping well."
Lately, Aurelia had been suffering from morning sickness every day.
The doctor said it was normal for the symptoms to be more intense with twins.
He now deeply regretted not being more cautious. He shouldn't have let her becpregnant. It was too much to endure.
As someone who grew up in a large family and felt the sting of his father's indifference and neglect, Leopold hadn't planned on
having many children himself. Just Kane would have been enough.
Kane had inherited all of his best qualities, such as intelligence and sensibility. He was the perfect heir.
