In Tanya's mind, it was inconceivable that Jessica and Leopold would have known her ties to the AK Group. She had been exceedingly cautious, concealing any trace that might give her away.
Had they known, they would have ccharging with accusations. They certainly wouldn't have been gentle with Skyler.
She resolved to pry into the situation with Jessica later.
"I need you to take care of something right away..." Weekends meant lazy mornings, and it wasn't until past nine that folks trickled into the dining room for breakfast.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtSkyler gulped down his milk, turning to Aurelia with puppy dog eyes. "Angel, the rose jam you made yesterday was divine. Leah and | are craving more. Can we pick smore roses for you to make for us?" "Of course," Aurelia replied with a warm smile.
Jessica looked at Skyler and Leah with indulgence. "You two little foodies, you don't have to pick them yourselves. We'll have the staff do it." Leah giggled. "Jessica, the Stirling family can't be without Aurelia. Once Leopold gets discharged, make him dump Megan and remarry Aurelia. We can't let another guy have our precious Aurelia. If someone else marries her, Leopold would be green with regret." Jessica just smiled, offering no reply.
Leopold stood by the dining room door, his icy eyes flickering. He yearned to remarry Aurelia so much, but she wasn't having it, which left him irritable and frustrated.
Glued to her phone, Tanya awaited the juicy gossip to hit the group chat.
Finally, it cthrough.
She feigned surprise. "Jessica, | just saw in the Whatgroup that Leopold has brought Megan's child into the Stirling family to claim lineage. But didn't you say yesterday the paternity test proved the child isn't Leopold's?" "Impossible!" Leah nearly leaped from her chair. "That's utter nonsense. Leopold hasn't even left the hospital. How could he have picked up Megan's child?" Skyler nodded vigorously. "Yeah, how could we not know about something so major?" Tanya drawled. "The group's all abuzz, claiming it cstraight from Megan's mouth that Kevin had fetched the child." Looking at Jessica, she probed. "Are you aware of this?" Jessica sipped her milk, her expression unmoved.
"I'm in the dark here, but I'll get to the bottom of it soon." A flicker of alarm crossed Tanya's heart. Was Jessica truly unaware? Had Leopold acted on his own? Jessica had been there all day long the day before, so it was possible that Leopold had instructed Kevin to bring the child back without her knowledge.
"Jessica, if Leopold did take the child, does that mean he's at the Stirling Mansion now?" "A child not of Stirling blood would never step foot in the Stirling Mansion," declared Jessica, her piercing gaze sharp and commanding, exuding an effortless authority.
Tanya's heart skipped a beat, wondering if they had conducted the paternity test.
Could it be that Leopold was kept in the dark to spare him the heartache? Did he take the child because he believed the child was his? "Does Leopold know the child isn't his?" asked Tanya.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Sooner or later, he will know," Jessica replied, her tone casual yet cutting.
Tanya could read between the lines. She had guessed right. Leopold was still in the dark.
"Perhaps there's been smisunderstanding. It might be best to have Megan cover and clear things up." Jessica agreed, "We do need to get to the truth. The Stirling family won't wrong an innocent, nor will we let the guilty go free.
According to the test, though the child isn't Leopold's son, there's still a familial connection." Her voice was soft like a breeze that stirred up a storm over the breakfast table.
Leah clapped a hand over her mouth, eyes wide as saucers, utterly flabbergasted.
