Aurelia settled back into her lounge chair, pulled out a pack of potato chips, and began munching away.
Her phone buzzed with a new message.
Glancing at the screen, she saw it was from Beverley.

[Yeah, a day off. I'm shopping. What's up?] [Just hanging out at the beach with sfriends. Guess who | ran into?] [Who?] [Your bodyguard, Peter, is staying with his wife. Can you believe it? He's married.] [It's common for people in their thirties to settle down, right?] Aurelia replied casually and then made a face at Leopold. "Beverley tellsyou're married. Can you believe she probably thinks you're my toy boy?" Leopold's hair was practically standing on end. "That little rascal has lousy eyesight. Do | look like a toy boy to you?" Aurelia laughed softly, teasingly hooking her finger under his chin. "Rich guys get hot chicks, and rich ladies get boy toys. Isn't that the high society stereotype?" Leopold curled his lip in a sardonic smile. "All that lowbrow nonsense? Countout." Aurelia's eyes danced with mischief. "Your reputation isn't so pristine lately, either, Mr. Leopold. People say you are a heartbreaker and a playboy." He raised a brow. "That's self-deprecation on my part." She gave him a thumbs-up. "Mr. Leopold, the master of self-deprecation." On the other side of the beach, Beverley pouted at her phone screen. She'd bet that Aurelia had no clue about the bodyguard's marriage. Despite Aurelia's calm response, Beverley figured she must be internally capsizing like a ship in a storm.
It was a big scandal to have kept a married man on the payroll.
Soon enough, Beverley mused, Aurelia would send a pink slip and kick the toy boy to the curb.
Her gaze inadvertently drifted toward Guardian Leopold, the charming heartbreaker who dared to mess with Aurelia. He was in for a rude awakening.
Leopold stood up and took Aurelia's hand. "Con. Let's take the jet ski out for a spin." Aurelia set down her coconut drink and walked to the dock with him. They cut through the waves together, laughing and whooping like kids without care.
It had been ages since she'd let loose like this, feeling like a teenager again, her brain flooded with dopamine.
Tflew, and the sunset began its slow descent toward the horizon.

She nodded, her smile soft, her eyes crescent moons of joy.
"Mr. Leopold and | haven't had many proper dates." He stroked her hair affectionately, his deep eyes filled with emotion. "If you want, we can date every week." Her eyebrows arched playfully. "I'm a busy woman. You'll have to get in line." His expression turned mockingly arrogant. "Who dares to queue up before me?" "Plenty." "Who?" he insisted.
She smirked slyly, her lashes fluttering like the wings of a butterfly. "Kane, William, Skyler, my parents, and Avery. They all cbefore you." He wrapped his arm around her slender waist, "No matter what, you always cfirst with me." His tone was serious, sincere, and firm.
Aurelia sighed inwardly. It only showed how much he valued her for the tbut wasn't a guarantee for the future.
When the love fades, things will be the other way around, and he'll turn to despise her.
"I'm not slovestruck fool swayed by sweet nothings." He smiled ruefully. "I wasn't either until | met you. Now, I'm the biggest lovestruck fool of all."
