Everett had spent the whole night mulling over this, and he was finally clear about several things.
If being with him was causing her so much anguish, it would be better to set her free.
Her life had always been beyond her control. He had hoped that his presence would change her trajectory and that he could help her walk out of the shadows of her past. But now, it looked like she was truly exhausted.
It was clear to Everett that Dorothy was really tired these past few days. It wasn't something she could fake.
"You're just making things worse! Just get a divorce already! Any wedding you have is just to make yourself feel better." Jeffrey said as he locked eyes with Everett's gloomy gaze.

Bella had spent most of her later life in this hospital, so this place became the only spot to commemorate her.
Dorothy, tired, sat on a bench in the pavilion, watching the patients come and go, each with a family member by their side.
And then she thought of herself.
She wasn't always there for her mother. She always used work and a lack of time as excuses for not coming to see her.
It seemed like karma had done its job. She wasn't even with Bella in her last moments.
She must have hated her, right? Hated her for not listening to her and for eventually walking down her path.
"Mama! Getting a shot hurts! | want a hug!" Suddenly, a child's voice reached Dorothy's ears.
Following the sound, she saw a little girl pouting and acting cute with her mom. She pointed at where she got the shot as her big eyes blinked, looking utterly adorable.
Her mom bent down to pick her up and kissed her on the cheek. "Sweetie, once your fever breaks, we'll go home. Mama promises to take you to Disneyland, okay?" "Yay!" The little girl instantly forgot all her pain. Her tearful eyes were unable to hide her joy.
Watching this, Dorothy's eyes welled up with tears.
She... she had always wanted a mom like that.

In her memory, Bella's face rarely held a smile.
There was even a time when Dorothy resented her. After coming home from her part-time job to the nursing home where her mother lived, she would bury her head in her homework, not speaking and not making eye contact with her mother.
She felt like as soon as her mother opened her mouth, it would be to scold her for interacting with boys or for having a crush.
But back then, even though she was a teenager, she had to wake up before dawn to walk to school and then work right after school. When she got home, she had a ton of homework and studying to do. Where would she find the time to have a crush? In her entire class, the only person she paid any extra attention to was Everett, and that was only because he was her deskmate.
After graduating from college and starting work, she began to subconsciously reject any further contact with men. It wasn't something she could control. It had just become a habit.
Every time she felt lonely, Dorothy couldn't help but resent her mother. Why had she instilled such thoughts in her from a young age? It made her so unsociable.
But now, she only wished Bella could come back to life.
No matter what it took.
Dorothy reached out and gently touched her belly. "Baby, if | give birth to you, will you resent me in the future?"
