After Dorothy got back to Karen's house, she didn't even have a moment to take a sip of water before she started sorting out the materials for the upcoming meeting.
She'd just received the task from Genesis Creations Inc. that day, and it was a big deal from the headquarters, so her understanding of the project was still at the beginner stage. She knew she'd have to pay extra attention during the meeting.
Once she'd prepared everything she could think of, Dorothy sat on her chair, turned on her computer, and opened the interface for the company meeting.
The text displayed on the screen was: [20:00 Channel One Technology Development Project Meeting Main Attendee: Everett] As she stared at the words on the screen, Dorothy suddenly felt a surge of nervousness! Would she be able to see how badly he was hurt? Would his face be disfigured? She glanced at the lower right corner of her computer screen. There was still nearly an hour before the meeting started! Under normal circumstances, she would have gone and found something to eat since she wasn't sure how long the meeting would have lasted.
But Dorothy didn't want to leave her computer screen.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtShe just wanted to watch the time and wait for the meeting to start.
The last time she remembered time passing so slowly was at the dinner Mr. Percy had taken her to meet Everett. Every second felt like sitting on pins and needles.
So, Dorothy just watched the clock, ticking away minute by minute.
As it got closer, her growing nervousness continued to unsettle her.
Finally, with ten minutes left to eight, she saw Channel One open up, and a notification popped up on the software telling relevant personnel they could enter.
On impulse, Dorothy was about to click it but hesitated and waited a few more minutes.
What if it was just her and Everett in the meeting room? Wouldn't that have been awkward? But it turned out that she was overthinking it.
After entering the meeting room, even Kevin was there, but Everett's camera was still off.
Then Dorothy received a message from Kevin on her private chat.
[My internet is a bit shaky today, so record the meeting and send me a copy tomorrow.] She sent back an OK emoji, then switched back to the main screen, only to see Everett's handsome face appear before her eyes! He seemed thinner.
Just from the angle of his gaze at the documents, the tiredness lurking in his eyes could have been seen.
His exquisite face was still deeply attractive, with a piece of gauze on his forehead that stood out. That must be from the car accident.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThat was the first time she had seen him since the incident, and Everett seemed to have regained his usual coldness, severe and aloof, with no hint of warmth in his eyes.
Dorothy subconsciously covered her heart, where she felt a twinge of pain.
It felt empty as if something had been lost.
"The materials from today's exchange meeting have been uploaded. You can check them out," Everett said.
As soon as he spoke, everyone in the meeting immediately went to check.
Dorothy was a beat late in opening it. The materials contained the latest progress of the technology exchange, with occasional pictures.
She was quick to spot Everett's figure in the pictures.
He was dressed in a black suit, holding a goblet and chatting with a foreign partner, with his usual polite smile on his face.
Next to him, it was clear that Heather had also attended the exchange. Perhaps because she'd just had surgery, she was sitting down, but her custom red dress was still quite conspicuous. It seemed to match Everett's suit perfectly.
