Nico lunged forward without thinking about the consequences and held the serum securely in his arms. He ended

up knocking his back on the armrest, rolled around, and crashed onto the ground.

mission over his own life.

The soldiers from Chanaea were Nico’s subordinates, so they were all eager to have a go at Charles.

Cedrick calmly ordered his man to bring Nico out of there because there was a miniature emergency room in his

private plane.

Seeing that Nico was being brought away along with the Super Antiviral, Charles realized he had lost his last

bargaining chip.

He laughed wildly, despite having both his hands in handcuffs. His laughter was so loud that it filled the entire

cathedral.

Meanwhile, neither of the troops dared to lay their fingers on Kylie.

Since her movements weren’t restricted, she tried her best to pull Charles away from Cedrick’s men.

Obviously, her efforts were futile. She whipped out a dagger and pressed it against her own neck. While glaring at

Cedrick and Gwendolyn, she thundered, “Hurting the princess is a heinous crime! If you dare to lay another finger

on Charlie, I’ll make sure none of you leave Erihal!”

Cedrick kept mum in response.

Kylie’s threat to commit suicide put both parties in a stalemate.

The situation only changed when Gerhardt arrived with his men, and he told Kylie to stop what she was doing.

“Lower your weapon, Kylie! Stop fighting this. Cedrick came with an international arrest warrant and has already

gotten a clearance from the king. You can’t stop him from bringing Vidar away!”

“What?” Kylie was in disbelief, her eyes filled with tears. “How could this be? They can’t take Charlie away! I won’t

allow that!”

Gerhardt approached her and took her dagger away.

In desperation, Kylie gripped the hem of his clothes and humbled herself for the first time. “Help me, Gerhardt!

Help Charlie! If they bring Charlie away, they’ll torture him! Help me kill all of them!”

While she was crying and distracted, Gerhardt heaved a sigh and struck the back of her head to knock her out.

Kylie fainted there and then.

Gerhardt carried her in his arms and exited the cathedral without looking back. He didn’t even spare Charles a

glance as if he no longer cared about Charles’ survival.

With Kylie gone, so did Charles’ last chance of surviving.

Cedrick’s expression turned grim when he recalled Charles kicking Nico. “What do you have to say for yourself?”

Charles looked devastated when he laughed sadistically and shouted, “You have everyone helping you! I have

nothing left to say!”

Cedrick ordered his men coldly, “Put him in handcuffs and legcuffs. We’re bringing him back to Chanaea.”

“Wait.” Gwendolyn, who had been keeping quiet the entire time, piped up.

Cedrick took off his black coat and put it over her shoulders. In a gentle tone, he asked, “What’s the matter,

Gwenny?”

Gwendolyn glanced at Charles. “Ceddy, what are you going to do to him after this?”

Cedrick answered instantaneously, “I’m sending him to a secret jail to torture him. He’ll live an insufferable life.”

Cedrick’s voice was stern, and his gaze was vicious when he said those words.

Charles laughed even louder upon hearing that. “I told you, Gwen. Cedrick hates me as much as I hate him. We’ll

never be able to reconcile.”

Cedrick didn’t deny that statement because that was the truth.

While Charles was laughing like a maniac, Gwendolyn uttered, “Ceddy, I don’t think imprisoning him is a good idea.

His existence will cause more issues in the future.”

Cedrick frowned and tried to read Gwendolyn’s expression. “What do you mean?”

Gwendolyn pursed her lips and smiled. She wrapped her arm around his waist and grabbed his pistol. “I want to kill

him myself!”

“Gwenny—” Cedrick shouted but caved in when he met her gaze. “All right. Go ahead and do whatever you want to

do.”

Gwendolyn loaded the pistol, lifted it, and aimed it at Charles.

Seeing that, everyone backed away from Charles at once.

Charles, on the other hand, straightened his body. When he looked at Gwendolyn, a ripple of emotion appeared in

his eyes.

He pointed at his heart and said, “Gwen, shoot here.”

“Or here,” he added after moving his finger toward his forehead. “Come on, show me your marksmanship one last

time.”

Gwendolyn suddenly felt an inexplicable sense of bitterness. “Charles, you taught me how to shoot a decade ago.

Did you ever think I would kill you ten years later?”

Charles looked at her affectionately and flashed a faint smile. “I’m incredibly honored to die in your hands. If I were

given a chance to do everything all over again, I would still love you as hard as I have for the past ten years. Let’s

get on with it.”

Charles stood there without moving a muscle.

Gwendolyn’s fingers trembled slightly as she stared at him with teary eyes. Charles wronged everyone but me.

However, he has committed such heinous crimes. If he returns to Chanaea, he’ll be tortured endlessly, and his life

will be a living hell. Ceddy has suffered a lot and escaped death repeatedly because of Charles. I can’t possibly ask

Ceddy to let Charles go. I should just grant Charles an easy way out to repay him for taking the bullet for me.

With that in mind, Gwendolyn pulled the trigger.

Charles knew that Ceddy would still go after him even if he were to give the antidote willingly. He provoked Ceddy

intentionally so that Ceddy would kill him!
