“Inez…” he called out gently, his brows furrowed.

It was Inez’s first time seeing his pained expression, so she was taken aback for a moment. It took her some time to

regain her senses before she closed her eyes.

“Kieran, I’m a fiancée of the Campbell family. We aren’t in a relationship. If you do anything to me today, my

reputation will be ruined.”

Kieran immediately sobered up upon hearing this.

“Sorry for my impertinence.”

He got up and sat on the chair next to her.

rheumatism?”

He scowled and coughed a few times. Then, he explained with a straight face, “Gwenny took most of the blanket

last night, so I might have caught the cold.”

“Oh, I see.” Zoey sensed something was off but couldn’t pinpoint it. “Then, remember to take medicine. Don’t get

too close to the babies before you recover to avoid spreading your sickness to them.”

“Okay,” he answered without any hesitation.

It would be good to stay away from the kids. If I do something wrong again, I might get beaten up.

As they chatted, the sounds of footsteps sounded from the third floor.

Cedrick immediately instructed Zoey, “Did you come downstairs to prepare the milk bottles for the babies? Then,

you should go and do it, and don’t ask so many questions.”

Zoey turned to head back into the kitchen.

Gwendolyn had left in a hurry just now. Seeing he was leaning on the banister, she reached out to support him by

Taking in his aggrieved expression, Gwendolyn leaned in and kissed him affectionately.

“There’s a business gala in two days. When I return, I’ll take good care of you at night, okay?”

Cedric was already content with the time cut from a week to two days.

However, he sensed something wrong with her words.

“What do you mean by when you return? Are you planning to go alone and leave me here in the villa?”

Gwendolyn nodded. “I don’t feel at ease if neither of us is here in the villa and only Mdm. Yarde is taking care of the

children.”

“That won’t do! I’m going with you,” he said resolutely.

His wife was too gorgeous. If he wasn’t present at the business gala, he was afraid men would hit on her.

He couldn’t bear thinking about it because it would only make him upset.

Gwendolyn explained patiently, “Ceddy, what did you promise me last night? You said you would prioritize the

babies as I do. If you really want to go, I’ll stay and take care of the children with Mdm. Yarde.”

He tried to persuade her. “Why can’t we go together? If you’re worried, I can get a team of soldiers to guard this

place. I promise an ant won’t even be able to enter this villa.”

Gwendolyn was rendered speechless. Did he even get what I’m trying to say?

Cedrick continued, “If you’re still worried, I can call Nico and Summer over so that they can take care of the kids

with Mdm. Yarde.”

Gwendolyn gazed at him in silence.

His eyes were filled with hurt. “Aren’t you afraid some woman will seduce me if I go alone?”

Gwendolyn replied solemnly, “If you’re so easily seduced, I won’t want you anymore even if we already have

children. I will take the children and leave, and you can never find me again.”

Cedrick’s heart clenched in fear. It seems I have gotten myself into trouble.

He raised his fingers and swore, “I used the wrong analogy. I promise I’ll never cheat on you, but you have to be

with me so that I can be at ease. Can you listen to me this time, please?”

Gwendolyn pinched his cheeks and gave in to him in the end.

Summer giggled melodiously again as a hint of slyness flashed past her eyes.

“I finally thought of a way to take control of finances from Nico! He has to ask me for an allowance now! It feels so

great to be in control of the finances!”

Gwendolyn stared at her curiously. “Oh? What did you do?”

As Cedrick was also there, Summer leaned in mysteriously and whispered in Gwendolyn’s ear, “First, I…”

The two gossiped for a while before Nico and Zoey returned.

Noticing Summer and Gwendolyn whispering among themselves, Nico smiled and asked, “What are you talking

about with Gwendolyn? Why did you leave Cedrick out of it?”

Cedrick’s expression turned grimmer at that, and he glanced at Nico. “What’s the deal with Summer coming over

to my house and getting so close to my wife? What’s the meaning of this?”

“Yes, yes, I’ll teach her a lesson when we return home.”
