She spoke softly again, not out of curiosity, but because she was somewhat at a loss on how to deal with this dude claiming to be her husband.
Brandon nodded, cutting straight to the chase with a quick rundown: "Your name's Sophia, a top-notch architect. You designed the Zenitha-style resort project that's going up in Zion City. I'm Brandon, currently running the show at Starlight Group. We've been hitched for years and have a two-year-old daughter. You got hurt saving someone at the construction site of the Zenitha-style resort while on a business trip in Zion City, and the Ferber family fished you out of the river." There was a slight hitch when he got to the "married for years" part - it was a can of worms that could lead to the fact they were actually divorced.
Brandon subconsciously didn't really want to touch that chapter of their history.
But clearly, Sophia was puzzled about this as well.
"Married for so many years, then why is it still..." She wanted to ask why there wasn't the usual warmth and dependency between them that married couples have, but, not wanting to hit a nerve, she switched to a more tactful approach, "So... how did we meet?" After asking, she gave an embarrassed chuckle, "I can't help feeling like we're from different worlds or something.' The day she saw him at school, he was the center of attention, surrounded by President Poe and a bunch of other bigwigs, shining bright like a diamond.

Whether he was being escorted by the school's top brass or standing on stage, the guy seemed untouchable and dazzling.
For sreason, Sophia always felt like she and Brandon were worlds apart.
Every tshe saw him, he seemed like someone to admire from afar, not someone who would cross paths with her in real life. And judging from their brief Whatchats, Brandon seemed like a tough nut to crack.
She couldn't picture what being married to him for years would even look like.
"We were classmates," Brandon said, "in the sclass during our senior year of high school." Sophia suddenly remembered the "Brandon" and "Sophia" side by side on the honor roll at West district high school.
"Did we start dating back in our school days?" She frowned as she asked, then felt something was off. If it was one of those 'high school sweethearts to wedding bells' kind of love stories, why did they feel like strangers? The word "strangers" popped up in her mind, and she was momentarily taken aback by her own thought.
Having gone through the experience where Ivan told her he was her boyfriend, and now facing the possibility that Brandon claimed to be her husband, she didn't have the sfear that it might be true as she did with Ivan, nor did she feel any psychological closeness or dependency. It was more of a distant reverence, coupled with the sour and bittersweet sadness she felt the previous times she had met him.
Sophia couldn't quite place the feeling, but her expression momentarily froze with that sudden thought.
Brandon didn't hide the truth about this from her.
We weren't together during our school days," Brandon said. "We econnected a few years after- graduating college at a class eunion, and that's when things lowly started to develop." Content elongs to english Sophia's brows furrowed slightly: "Then... how did we get together?" She still couldn't envision the two of them as a couple.
Brandon's lips pressed together before he slowly looked at her: "I had my eye on you." Sophia: "..." et "I didn't expect to bump into you at the reunion and I was pleasantly surprised, Brandon continued, looking at her. "So after the party, found an excuse to drive you home. Didn't expect that as soon as we got to your place, one thing led to another and... we hooked up." "Cough cough..." Sophia was caught off guard and choked on the water she had just sipped, her coughing fit timely interrupting Brandon's story. Brandon raised his hand to pat her back gently.

"I'm... I'm okay." Her voice was choppy from the coughing, her cheeks flushed - whether from the coughing or from something else.
A hint of amusement twinkled in Brandon's eyes.
Kent chose that moment to walk in, his eyes initially not noticing Sophia on the bed, all his focus on Brandon.
The rare smile on Brandon's face made Kent freeze in his tracks, el instinctively stepping back to double-check the room number making sure he hadn't made a mistake before uncertainly calling out, "Mr. Crawley?" Kent's sudden voice made both Sophia and Brandon look up towards the door.
Only then did Kent get a clear view of Sophia's face.
"Sophia?" Kent's voice spiked with shock and disbelief, clearly stunned to see her there.
