Theresa hesitated for a second but then nodded and wrapped her arms around Sophia once more.

Sophia clung to her too, her arms trembling slightly, with a lingering sense of bewilderment and lost still at the bottom of her heart.

She hadn't missed the look in Theresa's eyes when she heard "It doesn't hurt anymore," that timid desire to be close yet the fear to do so. It was a mix of emotions, feeling like she was her mom but also not really.

The memories that had been wiped clean meant she couldn't for the life of her remember what she used to be like, nor how she used to vibe with Theresa. That just sent her into a tailspin of panic and confusion.

She tried her darnedest not to let Theresa see her freaking out, holding onto her with a grip that meant business.

Theresa's sobs started to quiet down in the midst of their tight embrace, but her little hands were still clamped onto Sophia, not letting go.

Sophia held her just as tightly, her cheek unintentionally brushing against Theresa's, and it was only when she looked up that she saw Susan, eyes red and swollen, giving her this accusatory glance.

Susan was still crying, her eyes puffed up like walnuts, totally unable to rein in her emotions, just standing there with a look that was both relieved and reproachful, like Sophia had left them high and dry.

Sophia couldn't remember Susan either, but for sreason, seeing that look in her eyes stirred up all her emotions again, and her eyes quickly reddened as a sob caught in her throat.

When Susan finally saw Sophia look her way, she choked up and blurted out, "Where the heck have you been? Do you have any idea we thought you were... If you were still kicking, why didn't you give us a ring?" "I... I..." Sophia wanted to say she didn't remember, but all that cout was a choked-up sob, with emotions so strong she couldn't get her words out.

"Let's head back to the room," cBrandon's voice, cutting through the tension as he helped Sophia and Theresa to their feet. Kent, who was also getting teary-eyed, finally realized they were still by the ladies' room and quickly cracked a smile, saying, "Yeah, let's talk back in the room." His voice was still a bit shaky, but he smoothly stepped aside to clear the way.

Concerned about Sophia's health, Brandon reached out to Theresa, "Theresa,e on, let daddy carry you." But Theresa, who had just calmed down, suddenly started shaking her head frantically, gripping onto Sophia's shoulder even tighter.

Sophia, touched by her reaction, held her closer and said to Brandon, "I'll carry her." Brandon looked at her noticeably thinner frwith concern, but nodded and still reached out to support Theresa's bottom, taking sof the weight off Sophia.

When they got back to the room and Brandon saw both Sophia and Theresa with their eyes red and beaten, he settled them down and went to get a warm towel from the bathroom.

Theresa was clinging to Sophia like a koala bear, her eyes red and swollen from crying.

Susan couldn't hold back her emotions either, stepping forward and hugging Sophia tight, Theresa and all.

You scaredhalf to death, do you now that? Susan started, tears lready flowing again, "I thought I'd ever see you again. You have no dea how we've been coping these past months. Why couldn't you just nake a call, or if not, send a nessage somehow?" "I'm sorry, I don't know... I can't remember..." Sophia managed, her voice breaking and confused, her strong reaction when Susan and Theresa saw her only deepening her sense of helplessness. She felt terrible inside, but the lost memories prevented her from empathizing like Susan, leaving her with an indescribable guilt and indebtedness.

Brandon cback with the warm towel, noticing Susan clinging a bit too tightly to Sophia and Theresa, and stepped forward to intervene.

"Sophia's still not well, you need to take it easy," he said, his hand with the towel reaching out naturally to wipe her face.

Sophia, unable to accept his affection as easily as Theresa's, instinctively dodged before her brain could even process, tilting her head to the side to avoid his towel.

"I... I'll do it," she said softly, feeling guilty about her instinctive evasion.

Brandon gave her a small smile and handed her the towel, "Okay." Susan didn't miss the subtle exchange between the two.

Even though Sophia and Brandon had always been a bit distant, their previous distance had been a restrained kind, polite and considerate with natural physical contact. Now, it felt more like the distance between strangers.

Cóntent belongs to english Susan frowned in confusion, feeling like Brandon had found a fake Sophia to stand in for the real one, her questioning gaze shifting to Brandon.

The Sophia in front of her had the seyes, the sexpressions, but her gaze was foreign.
