REAGAN'S POV.

I have a mate with whom I have a connection. Her nis Ashanti. We might not be together now, but I still have a chance with her. I'm not supposed to be here, holding another girl...

Another girl who also happens to be my mate.

Fuck! I clear my throat and gently pull Selena out of my arms, making sure to give her a bright smile when she looks atso she doesn't feel as though I'm trying to push her away even though that's exactly what I'm doing.

"Oh... I'm sorry for crashing into you like that. I had no right to..." She starts to apologise but I quickly cut her off. "No. No. It's fine. It's okay. You don't have to apologize for anything." "Okay." She sits on her own again and starts fidgeting with her fingers.

Several moments of silence fly by. My eyes keep looking around the room while my brain searches for a topic to bring up. My body on the other hand needs air and wantsto leave, so my brain comes up with the perfect excuse to leave.

"It just occurred tothat you haven't had anything to eat since you arrived. You must be starving, am I correct?" Relief fills every pore of my body when she nods in agreement.

"I'm starving." "I'll just..." I'm on my feet already. "I'll just go outside and get you something to eat. I'll be right back." I turn to leave, but she holds my hand, stopping my move. I face her and the teary look in her eyes pierces right through my heart.

Now I feel guilty for lying to her just because I want to leave.

"Please don't go." She begs. "I want you here with me, I'm scared." "There's nothing for you to be scared of. There are guards stationed at your door. You're safe. I'll be right back. I promise. Okay?" "Okay." She agrees in an unsure voice as she reluctantly lets go of my hand. I flash her a reassuring smile before turning on my heels again. I take quick steps out of the ward, knowing I just made a promise I'm not going to fulfill.

I have no idea when I'm going to cback here to see her.

"How's she?" Kyle, who's standing by the door, asks the minute I step out. I shake my head.

"She's in a bad place. Trauma, triggers, and all that shit." "Oh..." "Yeah. Please find someone to get her something to eat. If she asks for me, just tell her something cup." I start walking past him.

"Whoa...whoa... hold up..." One minute he's behindand next, he's blocking my way. I stop walking and shoot him a tired look. "What's with the exasperated look on your face?" "Can you blme for looking exasperated right now?" "No." "Good. I need sair. If I don't take a walk to clear my head, I might lose my fucking mind!" "Right." He mumbles and steps aside.

"Thank you." I head straight to the elevator that takesto the underground parking lot where I meet guards lined up and a car with its back seat door already opened for me. Kyle's doing.

Once I get into the car and settle, the driver kicks off.

"What do you think, King?" I ask my Wolf who crawls out of his corner in my mind.

"I feel no connection with Selena. I never felt her wolf in the first place." "So what do you suggest we do?" "I say we forget about her and focus on winning back Ashanti."

"We can't just forget about Selena. She was our first mate and as long as she breathes, we have a duty towards her. To protect, care for, and love her. She was our first mate, remember?" That earnsa frown from King. "Are you trying to say you're going to choose Selena over Ashanti just because she's our first mate?" "I'm not trying to say anything."

"Just so you know, if Selena was the O one the Moon goddess wanted us to be with, she would never have sent Ashanti! We would have let us stay mateless for these five years before this moment that has come." "If that's the case then why would she keep Selena alive all these years?" King goes mute.

I draw in a deep breath, thoroughly annoyed at the situation at hand.

"I don't know about that, but what I know is, Ashanti is the one I want for us."

"I want Ashanti too, but we cannot afford to make any rash decisions. We have to treat this matter cautiously, or else we'll make a fatal error that will lead us to our doom!." "As if we aren't already doomed." He grumbles within and I chuckle because he's right.

Never in history has any Lycan or werewolf had two mates at once.
