As we stepped through the heavy oak doors, a wave of unfamiliar energy washed over me, sending a shiver down my spine. The air felt heavier, charged with something... otherworldly.
Seated in the center of the living room was an old woman, her hair white as wool, cascading around her like a veil. Her presence was striking, yet somehow comforting. She tuthed her sharp, knowing eyes toward me, and a warm, almost reverent smile spread across her wrinkled face.
"You must be Stormi," she said softly, her voice carrying a melodic quality that seemed to echo in my chest.
I nodded, swallowing the lump in my throat. "Yes." The woman stood, moving towardwith a grace that belied her age.
"I never thought I'd see the day," she murmured, her gaze raking overwith wonder. "A silver wolf... alive. It's been so long since your kind walked this world." I shifted uncomfortably, glancing at Mariah for reassurance.

The woman nodded, her expression softening. "Of course. I didn't mean to startle you, my dear." She paused, her gaze turning inquisitive. "May I see your wolf?" I froze, my pulse quickening. The idea of shifting in front of strangers, of exposing that part of myself, made my skin crawl.
"I don't " I began, but Mariah placed a hand on my shoulder.

Her expression was open, genuine, and there was a spark of something in her eyes-hope, maybe? With a deep breath, I stepped back, letting my wolf rise to the surface. The shift was quicker this time, and less painful, and when I opened my eyes again, I felt the cool wood floor beneath my paws. The woman gasped softly, her hands trembling as they cup to her chest.
"Oh, you're magnificent," she whispered.
She crouched down, reaching a hand towardbut stopping short. "May I...?” I hesitated, looking toward Mariah for guidance.
Mariah nodded, her smile encouraging.
Taking a cautious step forward, I allowed the woman to touch my fur Her fingers were warm and gentle as they trailed over my silver coat, her expression one of pure awe.
"It's true," she murmured. "You are incredible." 1/2 Chapter Fourteen I felt a strange mix of pride and uneate a bu After a les moments, I pulled back, glancing at Mar "She wants to shift hack," Mariah said softly.
Tealah stepped forward, pulling a shirt and sweatpants from his bag "Here," he said, handing them to Marish.
Elijah shot him a glare. "Sneaky bastard," he muttered.
Isaiah smirked, unbothered. "Always prepared? Mariah handedthe clothes, and I padded toward the hallway to shift in private.

Elijah's room was surprisingly neat today, with dark, minimalist decor that reflected his personality,Oshifted back gickly, weng Isaiah's shirt over my head. It hung loose, the hem reaching halfway down my thighs, and the sweatpants were far too when rolled up. I frowned at the way Isaiah's scent clung to the fabric. It was... distracting
Out of the four, Isaiah had been the cruelest. His words always cut the deepest, and his actions had left scars! wasn't sure would ever fade. I hated how his scent lingered, how it made my wolf stir despite my bitterness.
I took a deep breath, pushing the thoughts aside. I wasn't here to dwell op them.

The oversized clothes must have looked ridiculous because Austin snickered.
"Nice outfit, Stormi. Did you raid Isaiah's closet?" I glared at him, my wolf bristling. "Shut up." To my surprise, Austin's smirk faltered, and he looked away.
