The Alpha Bond 145 Then the spirit smiled. And he spoke the riddle. His voice, deep and echoing, sent a shiver down Stormi's spine.
"I have a heart that does not beat, A face but no eyes to see, I speak without a mouth, What am I?" We exchanged uncertain glances.
Elijah groaned. "Of course. Another stupid riddle." Austin muttered, "Couldn't he just ask us to fight a monster instead? Alex tapped his chin. "Okay, let's think. A heart that doesn't beat? A face with no eyes? That's... creepy." Isaiah ran a hand through his hair. "It speaks without a mouth, so maybe something that makes noise?" I narrowed my eyes at the spirit, who watched us with amusement, waiting. And my hand brushed against my pocket.
My mind raced through possibilities. Something with a face but no eyes. A heart but no pulse. Then my hand brushed against my pocket again.
Then it hit me.
"A smartphone." The spirit tilted his head.
The others turned to me, confused.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtStormi stepped forward, her voice more confident now. "A phone has a hscreen, a 'face' without eyes. It has a processor, a 'heart' that keeps it running but doesn't beat. It speaks through a speaker but doesn't have a mouth." Silence.
"Wrong answer! Turn away now or die here", it said the cave becextremely cold.
"It's a riddle the answer can be anything ", I said taking my cell phone from my pocket.
"Don't make things up! What is this thing you speak of, this cellphone," the spirit asked.
"This is a cellphone," I said and Isaiah calledfrom his and spoke his voice being heard from mine. The spirit moved closer looking at my phone intently.
The spirit smiled. "In all my years, I have heard many answers-an old clock, a portrait, even a radio. But never this." He hummed, stroking his chin.
I narrowed her eyes. "When was the last tyou left this place?" The spirit's smile faltered. "...Excuse me?" "The world has changed. Maybe your answer was correct centuries ago. But now?" I shrugged. "Maybe the answer has changed too." For a long moment, the spirit, simply stared.
1/3 Chapter 139 Then, to our shock, he laughed.
"Oh, you amuse me, Silver Wolf." His eyes twinkled. "Yes, the world changes, and so too must wisdom. Yes, child. Your answer is correct. Very well. You may pass." Elijah smirked. "Guess even ghosts need to update their riddles." The guardian let out a booming laugh. "Perhaps I do." He waved a hand, and the cavern trembled as a hidden pathway revealed itself before us.
I exhaled in relief. "Well, that was stressful." Alex nudged me. "Not bad, genius. Who knew all that ton our phones would actually cin handy?" I rolled my eyes, if there was anyone who liked spending ton their phone it was him.
The spirit then led us deeper into the mountain, where another cavern awaited. At its center, a wooden box sat atop an altar.
I stepped forward, heart pounding. I lifted the lid.
Inside, wrapped in aged cloth like the one we found in the groove of the Whispering willows, I carefully unwrapped it. Inside it was a stone fragment, It was almost identical to the one we found in the Whispering Willows.
I took out the first piece and pressed them together.
A faint glow pulsed from where the edges met.
"They fit," I whispered.

"My task is done," he said softly. "The tablet has waited long enough Now, there are only two pieces left." He stepped back, his form flickering.
I frowned. "Where are you going?"
He smirked. "To see the world so can learn more about your so-called cellphone."And with that, he vanished.
The cave fell silent. For a long m moment, no one spoke. The content isfomnovelenglish.net! Then Alex exhaled. "That was... weird." I clutched the stone. Two more pieces.
The journey wasn't over yet.
But we were getting one step closer each time.
