The Alpha Bond 232 Alex's POV The battlefield was quiet now, but not with the peace of victory-with the weight of loss.
The air still smelled of burnt earth and blood, of steel and magic clashing, of death and destruction. The bodies of fallen warriors- werewolves and witches alike- were scattered across the field, a painful reminder of the sacrifices made this night. But none of it mattered to me.
Because Stormi was gone.
Stormi-our Stormi-was gone.[] My throat tightened as I looked around at my friends, my brothers in arms. Elijah stood frozen, his fists clenched so tightly his nails pierced his skin. Isaiah had dropped to his knees, clutching the torn remains of her shirt as though he could will her back into existence. Austin was gripping his hair, his body trembling violently Rowena stood off to the side, silent tears streaming down her face as she clutched her staff. Her expression was distant, as if she were seeing something we couldn't.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtI felt frozen, like my body had shut down. My mind couldn't process what had just happened. One moment, she was there-glowing, fighting, winning. The next, she had beclight itself, vanishing in a brilliant, blinding beam that shot straight to the moon.
And then... nothing.
I swallowed hard, forcing myself to breathe as I looked around at my brothers. Elijah was standing stiffly, his entire body trembling with rage and grief. Isaiah was kneeling, his head bowed, fingers gripping the torn fabric of Stormi's shirt so tightly his knuckles turned white. Austin had his back to us, his shoulders rising and falling sharply, as if he was barely holding himself together.
I swallowed thickly, looking to my own brother, Austin.
We rarely showed vulnerability, rarely allowed ourselves to break-but as I turned to him, his face was a mirror of my own pain. Without a word, he pulledinto a hug, and I held onto him like a lifeline.
"She's really gone, isn't she?" My voice was barely a whisper.
Austin exhaled shakily, his grip tightening on my shoulder. He didn't answer. He didn't have to.
Around us, the wolves and witches who had fought so hard and sacrificed so much began to mourn. The sounds of grief were heavy in the air-soft sobs, quiet prayers, and whispered goodbyes to a woman who had given everything for us. Rowena stood slightly apart from us, her face pale, her expression unreadable. But her eyes-her eyes said everything.
She knew.
She knew this would happen.

She just looked atwith those wise, ancient eyes, sadness swirling in their depths. "I suspected." My jaw tightened. "And you didn't tell us?" Rowena let out a long breath, her grip tightening around her staff. "Would it have changed anything?" 1/2 Chapter 226 I wanted to argue, to scream That it would have, that we could have topped her but I knew the truth.
Stormi wouldn't have let us stop her.
No amount of begging, of reasoning, of threats would have changed her mind. She knew the only way to defeat the Shadow Weaver was to give up everything.. And she did.
A sharp, broken sound cfrom Isaiah. I turned to see him pressing the remains of Stormi's shirt against his forehead, his shoulders shaking. "She's really gone, isn't she?" The words tasted bitter on my tongue.
Austin, my brother, placed a heavy hand on my shoulder, a rare gesture at him, of comfort. I looked at him, searching for an answer, for a reason to hope-but he had none to give. Then, the world shifted.
It wasn't something we could see, not at first. It was something felt.
