The Queen Returns-And She's Unforgiving 89 Chapter 89 Evelyn had already arrived at the airport and checked in her luggage. She replied, "Around 4:30 pm." There was a brief silence on the other end before Lucas finally spoke. “Got it. Wait forafter you land-I'll drive you back to the city." Evelyn figured Maria must have urged him to call. But after what had happened last night, she hesitated.

Sensing her reluctance, Lucas said, "Grandma askedto take you home." Bringing up Maria made Evelyn furrow her brows. "When are you planning to tell her?" Before he could respond, Tiffany's voice cthrough from his side. “Lucas, we need to board now." Then cthe abrupt beeping of the call ending. He had hung up. She wasn't even sure if he had heard her question. And as for what happened last night-he seemed entirely unbothered.

If she wasn't mistaken, the background announcement on his end sounded exactly like hers. Were they on the sflight? A quiet laugh almost escaped her.

If he was with Tiffany, how exactly did he plan to take her home? She decided not to dwell on it.

The flight from Holmer City to Clementon took about two hours. After landing, Evelyn went straight to the luggage claim.

She still remembered Lucas' promise to drive her back. Maria must have told him to. Sitting in the airport waiting area, she called him.

There was no answer. She figured he would call back once he had things sorted out. Not one to waste time, she pulled out her laptop and got to work.

Engrossed in her tasks, tslipped by unnoticed. It wasn't until she stretched her stiff neck and checked the tthat she realized more than 40 minutes had passed. Still, there was no word from Lucas Eysin wasn't particularly surprised. She had no intention of waiting any longer. Shutting her laptop, she got up and walked out.

just as she reached the taxi stand, her phone rang. It was Justine. "I must've left the house on the wrong foot today! I cto the hospital for an IV drip because of a throat infection, and guess who I ran into? Lucas and Tiffany!" Evelyn paused mid-step and glanced up at the gloomy, overcast sky. A sharp chill swept through the air. She pulled her coat tighter around herself and got into a cab.

That explained everything. Lucas had already gone back-with Tiffany. He hadn't even bothered to let her know or answer her calls. He left her waiting, completely forgotten.

If he wasn't going to follow through, why offer in the first place? Closing her eyes briefly, she shifted her focus. "How are you feeling?" As for Lucas and Tiffany being, at the hospital-there was only one reason he would drop everything and leave her behind. Something must have happened to Tiffany.

Justine coughed a few times before grumbling. "I could barely talk before, but seeing those two madeso mad I almost recovered on the spot."

Then, as if suddenly remembering something, she said, "By the way bayn Sebastian toldyou're getting back astian folde around this time. Are you hyet?" Evelyn responded softly, "Just got in a cab." Justine sounded puzzled. "Didn't you land at 4:30 pm? It's already 5:30 pm. Why are you only just leaving?" Evelyn fell silent for a moment before forcing a faint smile. "It got delayed. I'll csee you later." "No need! The hospital's full of sick people coughing everywhere-I don't want you catching anything. Just go hand rest." Evelyn didn't argue. When she got home, she received a message from the hospital, informing her to cin for her first round of radiotherapy.

She replied with a simple acknowledgment, then lay down to rest. The past two days of traveling had drained her completely. Exhaustion crashed on her like waves. Feeling worse than usual, she decided to take the next day off and stay home.
