"This isn't exactly hidden, you know," Aion said.
"Only people with some level when it comes to magic can see the pillar… or so we were told," Seris explained. "Anyway, we were never attacked until now."
Aion finally recalled why Arlana was silent. She was finally going to see the city of her people… she never had the chance to see it and only heard a few things about it since her parents probably didn't see it either. Still, usually, she would look excited instead.
The city above the clouds was completely hidden since the area was always cloudy. It wasn't the size of the capital of the Zaera kingdom, but it was pretty massive. Instead of a huge chunk of earth floating, it was more like one of the earth platforms that Aion could make it fly. The city resembled a bit as well the fallen capital after being repaired. It had a lot of towers, and the buildings were mostly blue and gray.
"Fifteen hundred years ago, one of my ancestors built this place using all the technology and knowledge that he had obtained during their lifetime since we were being hunted all over the world thanks to our powers," Seris explained and then cut her hand a bit with a knife. "They wanted to create soldiers with the abilities to control time since no one was ever able to create perfect countermeasures against it."
Seris touched the barrier with her hand and blood, and in the next moment, a hole appeared in the barrier. They crossed it, and Aion kept looking at her… her ancestor basically ripped off Aion's family. So, she tried to avoid his gaze.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe group began to approach the city and eventually found several metal bars around it that looked like the people inside were caged, but they probably worked to avoid accidents.
Once they approached the city, several armed guys began to show up near the metal bars while carrying weapons that resembled the magic crossbows that they had used before.
Aion expected to see them wearing weird clothes, like white uniforms with strange symbols of it, since, considering their condition, their society looked pretty alien. Still, they were just wearing normal leather clothes, and some were wearing armor, probably for appearance's sake.
"Can you get rid of this box and send that guy away? His aura is a bit…" Seris said.
Aion nodded and canceled the summon, and threw the box away while he made everyone float while using wind magic. Arlana looked shocked after seeing the place her ancestors lived… Come to think of it, Aion didn't ask how the Heradins family faced their end.
Some soldiers recognized Seris and even Aion, and he was pretty sure he didn't see any of them. Eventually, they landed, and Seris greeted some people. They were drawing a lot of attention, but they didn't have time to lose.
"Let's get going. Sauros must be at his home lazing around," Seris said.
Aion recalled that Sauros said that he would start working on building a family since he already had a girlfriend or something. Aion didn't remember exactly since he wasn't interested in another guy's love life. In any case, he must be busy trying to make a son while he can… what an envious lifestyle.
While looking around, Aion saw some shops selling clothes, weapons, armor, books, accessories, and monster materials. Still, they all looked normal… it seemed that just living in a floating city was the only thing in which they stood out, that and the fact that they could use a bit of time magic.
The houses around weren't much different from the high-class ones in the capital, and it was quite hard to find one that stood out among the others. Everything looked similar, so it would be easy to get lost there.
After walking for ten minutes, they stopped in front of a house that had a large garden and a bit different entrance… there were no gates around, but it had a large wall covering the whole residence.
"Wait here. I will call him," Seris said while sweating a bit.
Aion wondered why she was sweating. The climate inside the city was perfect, even though outside, it was close to zero. When he looked to the side, he saw Arlana fidgeting.
"Are you a fan of Sauros as well, like you are a fan of everyone else?" Aion asked.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"No… it is a long story…" Arlana forced a smile and replied.
Aion furrowed his eyebrows since it wasn't normal for her to act like that. All of a sudden, something came to Aion's mind… could it be that Arlana was a descendant of Sauros? That would explain why she looked nervous. It didn't seem like Seris knew that, though.
"You are simply unbelievable…" Sauros said while scratching the back of his head when he showed up from the back of his house.
Seris showed up while showing a nervous smile soon after, and then another woman with long hair wearing something like a robe appeared as well. She looked to be in her mid-twenties, and she showed a sweet smile when she saw Aion. Still, he would instead that she doesn't show that because she had quite the pair of bazongas… the largest that Aion had seen in that work, and it will be hard to maintain eye contact thanks to those bad boys.
"Men, you don't know when to take a break, huh," Sauros said when he got close enough."Since you never relax, you never use your head and don't realize the obvious."
"Are you picking a fight with me?" Aion asked while furrowing his eyebrows.
"You must be Arlana… Seris only told us a few things about you," Sauros said while ignoring Aion. "It seems that I didn't do my job properly, and that caused you a lot of suffering… I am deeply sorry about that."
"Hahaha, don't mind it…" Arlana looked away nervously. "I checked other timelines, and it seems that things were bound to happen that way no matter who was the next leader of the city."
