Isolde had just cback from a walk with Leonis in the garden when she saw Harlan approaching. With a

playful smile, she teased, “Harlan, did you know | was having sweet cakes at The Pearl Tower today?”

Harlan, without smiling, looked at her and said, “Sweet cakes can wait. Pablo is here.”

Isolde blinked in surprise. “Pablo? Didn't he just return to Argentum?”

“Yes, he’s already here. Your father is seeing him. Please, go out and meet him.” Harlan stepped closer and

spoke softly, “Pablo likely wants to talk about the engagement again. William is no good-do not agree to

anything.”

Isolde nodded, understanding. “Of course, | wouldn't marry him anyway.”

She quickly changed into another outfit and left with Noelle and Britney.

In the main hall, Pablo was already earnestly apologizing to Geoffrey. As Isolde entered, Pablo was still visibly

angry, his face flushed with resentment, recalling the events of the previous night.

Isolde composed herself, straightened her posture, and walked in briskly. She bowed gracefully and said, “Isolde

greets Pablo, and congratulates you on your great victory and triumphant return.”

She wore a simple green silk gown, elegant and modest, with her hair tied up in a simple bun, giving her a fresh

and wholesappearance. Her face was free of makeup, but her bright eyes shone with genuine joy.

Geoffrey watched her-what a lovely, intelligent girl she was.

It pained him to think of how unfairly she had been treated, labeled with false accusations, and now rejected by

a man who could never appreciate her.

Pablo, filled with shame, couldn't help but feel responsible for the tragedies thrust upon her.

He had cexpecting to find a sorrowful, despondent Isolde, yet to his surprise, she was still so cheerful, so full

of life.

“Isolde, I've ctoday to apologize,” Pablo said solemnly.

Isolde knew Pablo's temperament; he wasn’t one to apologize easily, and his visit this early in the morning was a

clear sign of his genuine regret. The wrongdoer wasn’t him, so she had no reason to be angry at him.

Before she could speak, Geoffrey interjected, “Pablo, how can you apologize to a younger generation? She

doesn’t need it.”

Pablo stared seriously at Geoffrey. “No, when one is wrong, one must admit it. What does it matter if she is

younger? Even the young can feel hurt.”

Isolde smiled lightly and said, “Pablo, | accept your apology.”

The matter seemed to be resolved.

“Isolde, be bold,” Geoffrey said, reprimanding her.

Isolde smiled and looked at Geoffrey. “Father, please have the servants prepare breakfast. Let's drink with Pablo

and hear him recount the glorious details of his campaign.”

It had been a long tsince she smiled at Geoffrey. Their meetings were usually marked by coldness and

indifference, but today, there was something warm in her demeanor

Geoffrey, despite his usual aloofness, felt a strange warmth in his chest. He actually felt a sense of comfort in

following her request. Strange indeed,

Pablo looked at Isolde, his heart filled with both admiration and regret. He sighed, Isolde, don’t worry. This

engagement was arranged by me, and only | can annul it. Anything anyone else has said, it doesn’t count

Isolde smiled, “Pablo, this engagement can only be annulled by you, but we also have the power to break it off. If

what they said doesn’t count, or if you're feeling uneasy, | can ask my father to go to the Valen family tomorrow

and cancel the engagement. What do you think?”

Pablo looked at her, surprised. Her smile was so gracious, so without a hint of resentment. From her words, he

realized she no longer wished to marry into the Valen family.

Ah, it seems fate is simply not on our side.

Pablo sighed softly. “Of course, it’s best if Geoffrey cancels the engagement, but | still feel regret. | had hoped we

could be one big family.”

Isolde, still smiling gently, said, “Perhaps there was once that chance, but honestly, and | hope you don’t take

offense-William, | cannot marry him.”

Pablo’s face flushed with anger as he barked, “That ungrateful son of mine-he knows nothing of what he’s

missed out on!”

“Don’t worry,” Isolde said, trying to calm him. “I know you punished him last night. There's no need for him to

apologize. Since the engagement didn’t work out, I'd rather not have any ill feelings between us.”

“Does he dare?” Pablo growled, his eyes flashing. “Letdeal with him.”

Isolde, touched by his willingness to stand up for her, smiled again and said, “I'm happy to know that you care

enough to do this for me. As for how others view me, and what they do, it doesn’t matter to me.”

Pablo, moved by her words, suddenly got an idea. He slapped his thigh in excitement and said, “If you can’t be

my daughter-in-law, would you consider being my goddaughter?”

Isolde froze. What? Oliver was his son. If she bechis goddaughter, what would that make her?

She instinctively shook her head.

Pablo, taken aback, asked, “You don’t want to?”

Isolde smiled meaningfully. “Do you know that the Langley family has canceled their engagement?”

Pablo froze. “The Langley family canceled the engagement? Geoffrey, where did this cfrom?”

“Oliver had an engagement with Arthur's sister, Cristina, but Cristina herself cto cancel it.”

“Oliver was engaged?” Pablo was surprised. He knew Arthur was his son-in-law, but Cristina-hed seen her twice,

and she always seemed cold, as if looking down on everyone. How could she be worth,

“She made the right choice,” Pablo said, “but if | were around, | would have never agreed to that engagement.

But what does this have to do withwanting to adopt you as my goddaughter?”

Oliver?

As Pablo spoke, he suddenly understood.

A smile crept onto his face as realization hit him. He wasn’t just left with William; he had Oliver.

With a growing sense of excitement, he quickly asked, “You're agreeing to Oliver then?”

Isolde quickly glanced at the door, seeing Geoffrey about to walk in. She whispered, “Let's talk about this when

he returns.”

“Alright, alright,” Pablo said eagerly.

Geoffrey walked in and was immediately struck by Pablo’s change of demeanor. The fury had evaporated,

replaced by a lightness and joy.

He shot a curious glance at Isolde. What had she said to make Pablo so happy?

Isolde, though, felt uneasy. She wasn’t entirely sure whether Oliver had meant it when he spoke, but for now, she

was going to seize the opportunity. If good things could be hers, she wouldn't just hand them away.

She had died once and cback to life; this time, she would live better, happier.

Pablo, though filled with joy and regret, could only think one thing-he had another chance to right the wrongs.
