Only then did Lad react and quickly chase after Helena.

Isolde smiled and held Raine’s hand. She revealed, “Alright. | was joking just now. Helena is not bound toby

an indenture. When she started working forin the manor, | burned her contract along with the contracts of

the other girls working for me. She’s a free woman. “As for the money you'll give me, I'll give them all to Helena.

So, you can decide how much money you want to give me. If you givemore, you'll look better in the eyes of

others. If you can’t afford a decent wedding, I'll top up whatever that’s needed. I've allocated a fund for her

wedding.”

Raine was overjoyed. She praised, “Miss Langley, you're really kind-hearted.”

Isolde looked at her and said softly, “Mrs. Wood, | only ask for one thing. Tell Lad to treat Helena better. Don’t

break her heart by taking more than one wife.”

Raine immediately scowled and said, “If that kid dares to do so, Ill be the first to make him suffer.”

Isolde was relieved.

She knew that the Wood family was a good family. Raine and Lad got along well, and they had personalities.

Hazel rolled her eyes and said, “If you miss her, just cback to visit her when you have time. It’s not like the

two of you are separated by life and death. We're only a few streets away. We're literally walking distance away

from each other.”

Isolde smiled and chimed in, “Hazel, leave her be. It's normal for a bride to be emotional. Let her vent her

emotions. She'll be happy later.”

Noelle entered the room and teased, “That's right. Helena, you'll be happy when you see the money Miss

Langley prepared for you.”

Helena shook her head and said, “Miss Langley, | don’t want your money. I've ssavings. | can manage this

myself.”

Isolde said, “Keep what you've saved. I'll give what | want to.” They had been together for many years, and

Isolde know that she would miss Helena dearly. However, she was happy that Helena managed to find herself a

good husband and in-law.

Isolde was uncertain how much longer she had to live. She wanted to make plans for people she cared about as

soon as possible.

The wedding was set to happen on the third of August.

It was not a special date. It had been raining non-stop for a few days, but the weather cleared up on the day of

the wedding. Everyone took that as a good sign.

Moreover, the day before the wedding, the Royal Court officially issued a commendation order, praising Duke of

Blackmoor for killing Milton, who was on the run.

Although there was no reward given, Duke of Blackmoor was overjoyed since he had not received commendation

from the Royal Court for years. He initially thought that he didn’t care. However, he was overwhelmed with

emotion when he finally got the commendation order.

Duke of Blackmoor ordered Harlan to bring lots of gifts to the Pearl Tower early in the morning. They were

wedding gifts for Helena.

This surprised Isolde. She thought Duke of Blackmoor would lose his temper.

After all, Lad was a marriage candidate prepared for her, and yet she matchmade Helena with Lad.

Isolde thought that Duke of Blackmoor would go berserk given his dictatorial personality.

Regardless, Isolde accepted the gifts from Duke of Blackmoor happily.

Noelle took a look at the list of gifts. Her eyes widened in surprise as she exclaimed, “A pair of diamond

bracelets, two sets of hair accessories made of gold and silver, yards of satin, and many other things. Helena,

Duke of Blackmoor is really generous. He treats you like half a daughter.”

Helena glanced at Isolde and said, “I can’t possibly accept all these gifts. Miss Langley, why don’t | return them

to Duke of Blackmoor?”

Isolde said, “Why would you return them? They're gifts. If you reject them, you'll be shaming the Duke. We're not

dumb. We'll take all the free stuff we can get.”

Helena had rejected the gifts at first for the fear of offending Isolde. Since Isolde said so, Helena felt relieved and

happily accepted them.

Isolde did not have any experienced wedding planner around her. So, she engaged the help of Anne, the

maidservant of Matilda, to guide them on what to do.

Helena’s wedding gown was not exquisite, but it was a decent piece completed with an embroidered veil. There

was also intricate embroidery on her wedding gown.

Isolde gave Helena 500 and lots of practical stuff as wedding gifts.

500 was a huge sum of money for an ordinary family. Srich families wouldn't even give their daughters that

much as a wedding gift. However, Isolde didn’t tell Helena about it. She was worried that Helena would reject her

money. Isolde stuffed the money in the new bedding and told Noelle to tell Helena about it after the wedding was

over.

Isolde had been very happy ever since Helena’s wedding was decided.

However, when she finally heard the sound of music welcoming the bride, she was overwhelmed with

emotion.

Helena had been with her since she was five years old. Isolde still remembered the day she met Helena. Helena

looked skinny with her hair in a ponytail. She was wearing tattered clothes and no shoes. The person in charge of

the maids instructed Helena to greet Isolde. Helena did so in a timid voice and lowered her head immediately

after.

Now, Helena was actually getting married.

Not wanting anyone to see the tears in her eyes, Isolde quickly turned around and left the scene. She instructed

Noelle and the Goodwin sisters to see things through.

Helena knew that Isolde was feeling emotional. She bowed in the direction of Isolde’s room and said while crying,

“Miss Langley, I'm leaving now. I'll never forget you.”

Isolde sat in the room with a lump in her throat. She said nothing in response to Helena’s goodbye.

The crowd left with the bride, leaving behind lots of confetti on the ground.

As the noise faded into the distance, Isolde cout of her room. She looked at the confetti all over the ground.

She sighed forlornly. Gradually, she regained her smile.

She reminded herself that this was a joyous occasion.

She would continue seeking suitable husbands for all her maidservants.

Doug said that he had made too many enemies and always wanted to make plans for Isolde. She felt the same

for her maidservants.

Now that Helena was married, she would have her own life and someone who loved her. So, Isolde didn’t need to

worry about Helena anymore.
