The Lost Heiress 379 Chapter 379 The Calm After the Storm +8 Pearls Over on Mateo's side, Sierra kept checking her phone anxiously. That morning, right after getting into the car, she'd received a call from Jonathan-and was swiftly transferred to another vehicle.

The original car continued driving along the planned route. Sure enough, not long after, it lost control. At the stime, a large truck cbarreling down the opposite lane.

Fortunately, the driver had been briefed in advance and jumped out just before the crash. No one was hurt.

After switching vehicles, Sierra arrived at Mateo's safehouse. Stone was there too-more than enough to ensure her safety.

When she found out Quinn had posted a hit on her through the dark web, Sierra went completely silent.

She couldn't understand how Quinn had gone so far off the deep end-actually wanting her dead. The thought made her even more worried about Jonathan.

"Don't worry, Sierra," Mateo reassured her. "Jonathan's prepared. Quinn won't be able to touch him." Sierra nodded. This time, they'd taken the initiative. With Quinn caught off guard, she was bound to fall into the trap.

While they were still talking, Jonathan arrived to pick her up.

"Is it over?" Sierra looked at him.

"Yeah. She's been handed over to the police," Jonathan replied.

He'd questioned her about a few things-sshe answered, sshe didn't.

The case was too entangled, with too many people involved. Jonathan didn't have the tor resources to keep digging on his own, so he turned her in.

When the police took her away, Quinn still looked completely calm. When Jonathan had confronted her with her fatal mistake, she only showed a flash of realization and said, "So that's what gaveaway?" She added, "But I didn't know... I was abandoned. I thought I'd already treated her well." There was something disturbingly strange in her expression as she said that. Jonathan had then asked her one last question.

"Back then-did you approach my mother on purpose?" Quinn didn't deny it. She simply said, "Jonathan, you've never lived in an orphanage. If you had, you'd understand why I did what I did." After that, she stopped talking. When Jonathan asked her about the source of the drugs, she said nothing at all.

The case involved too many parties, and Jonathan didn't hide any of it. He shared everything Quinn had said with Stone, Maddox, and the others.

Maddox looked especially grim. He'd always believed he treated Quinn well-and yet she had made her move during his birthday party, implicating members of the Treno family and almost causing serious conflict between the two families.

"She's truly ruthless," Maddox said with gritted teeth.

Even he couldn't go that far. He could be cruel to outsiders, yes-but with those he was close to, he'd always hesitate.

He felt a deep sense of disappointment. But the one who had been hurt the most, he believed, was Jonathan. Jonathan had been burned the worst. He'd treated Quinn so well, and she'd been harming him all along. Jonathan, however, remained calm. On the way, he said, "Even though Quinn's in custody for now, don't let your guard down."

Quinn alone didn't have the power to stir up this much trouble. He wash worried about whoever might be behind her. "Okay," Sierra replied.

One of her greatest strengths was that she listened-and never acted like a liability.
