The woman gave a small nod and reached for the plate and fork. “Alright.” Hadley remained with the woman as she ate quietly. Her every movement was poised and graceful, far from what anyone would expect of someone in an unstable mental state.

Among the carefully arranged dishes on the tray were the medications prescribed by the doctor. Once the woman finished eating, she grew drowsy.

Hadley helped her onto the bed and tucked her in, smoothing the blanket over her with care.

Within a few seconds, she was fast asleep.

Hadley pulled the blanket over her, then moved to the window and drew the curtains closed.
