Chapter 76 You Would Support That, Right

It was a weekend day.

Eric decided to see Ernest.

A while ago, a doctor mentioned a promising new drug, and Eric managed to get it from Aradimen. They had

already started giving it to Ernest.

“How is it going?”

Though Eric appeared composed, he was inwardly anxious.

“Mr. Flynn,” the doctor said, his expression cautiously optimistic. “From what we've seen so far, Your brother is

reacting well to the medication. There's been a noticeable improvement in his neural reflexes recently.”

Eric’s hope ignited upon hearing this. “Really?”

“Mr. Flynn,” the doctor continued, indicating a monitor nearby. “Please, try speaking to him.”

Uncertain but willing to try, Eric complied with the doctor's advice.

He sat beside Ernest’s bed, gazing at him, and whispered, “Ernest, it’s Eric. Can you hear me? Grandma

underwent heart surgery. She’s been waiting years for you to wake up. You've rested enough... It’s tto wake

up.”

“Mr. Flynn, look,” the doctor said, pointing to the monitor.

Eric turned his attention to the screen. Though not versed in medicine, the increase in Ernest’s heart rate was

unmistakable.

“What does that mean?”

“You see, Mr. Flynn,” the doctor replied with a gentle smile. “It means he can hear you, even though he hasn't

opened his eyes yet.”

Hearing was usually the last sense to fade and the first to return.

Overwhelmed, Eric sat in silence, a slight ease visible on his face as he processed the hopeful sign.

“Is there a real possibility that my brother might recover?”

“While | can’t make any promises, the signs we're seeing suggest a strong potential for improvement. ”

Eric found solace in the doctor's cautious optimism, though it lacked certainty.

“That's great to hear,” Eric said with genuine gratitude. “| appreciate everything you're doing.

“There's no need to thank me; I'm simply doing my job.”

After offering those words, the doctor departed from the room.

Eric lingered a moment longer by Ernest's side, and then whispered gently, “Ernest, if you're listening, | need to

share something else. | want to be with Hadley. You would support that, right?”

Naturally, there was no reply from Ernest.

“Your silence is as good as consent.”

Leaving the hospital, Eric felt an unusual lightness in his step.

Later that day, he was due to meet Linda at the airport as she returned to town.

Her flight landed right on time, and soon after Eric's arrival, Linda emerged from the terminal.

Leading her entourage, Linda's tall, slender frwas noticeable even behind sunglasses and a mask, attracting

glances in the bustling crowd.

Linda had always been striking, a beauty that once drew the attention of both Flynn brothers.

In the end, she had chosen Ernest...

Eric’s thoughts drifted to those distant days as he squinted slightly.

“Tired?”

He opened the car door for Linda and cautiously helped her in to avoid any bumps. “Hop in.”

“Thank you,” Linda replied with a tired smile, slipping into the car.

Eric got in after her.

Once inside, Linda removed her sunglasses and mask, exposing a bare, visibly weary face.

Judging by Linda's tired look, Eric surmised she had been overworking during her shoot.

“Are you okay?” Eric inquired, his voice filled with concern. “Maybe you should consider getting srest after

you get home.”

“I wish | could,” Linda responded, shaking her head. “I have to attend an event tonight. Just dropoff on your

way.”

Eric frowned slightly. “Why are you packing your schedule so tightly?”

“It’s just the way things are,” Linda explained with a resigned shrug and a wry smile. “Everyone’s striving to get

ahead in this industry.”

“You shouldn’t have to overextend yourself,” Eric said. He then quickly added, “You're already well-positioned

compared to many.”

His tone carried a note of protectiveness that didn’t go unnoticed. Linda paused briefly, offering a faint smile in

response.

Eric paused, wondering if he'd said too much.

“Just take care of yourself, okay” tric said. “Ernest would hate to see you like this.”

Linda sensed that Eric was only bringing up Ernest to tone down what he had said earlier

Choosing not to address this directly, she simply smiled. “Thanks, I'll try to slow down a bit.

The remainder of their journey passed quietly.

As they arrived at the event venue, they saw it was packed, so Eric stayed in the car

Turning in surprise, Linda responded, “Yes? What is it?”

‘s nothing..” Dric hesitated, initially wanting to bring up Ernest’s improvement but opting to hold back until a

more appropriate time.

Just make sure you eat well and try to rest when you can,” he suggested.

“Got it.” Linda replied with a mischievous grin. “Aren’t you a bit young to be fussing like a concerned parent?

Despite her words, her response was warm and devoid of any irritation.

Once Linda was dropped off, Eric’s phone rang with a call from Marshall.

“Where are you right now, Eric?”

“What's going on?”

“Are you headed to Galant tonight? We haven't all been together in a while. *

A small smile appeared on Eric's face. “Who else is coming?”

With a laugh, Marshall responded, “Go ahead, guess. It’s just us usual suspects-me, you, Barrie, and Denver's

coming along too.”

Eric's face momentarily stiffened. “Okay.”

He had already intended to go, but knowing Denver would be there only made his attendance feel even more

necessary

When Eric got to Galant, he found Marshall and the others already immersed in laughter.

“What's so funny?” Enc inquired as he settled into his chair, throwing a glance Denver's way. “Looks bike |

missed something good ”

Denver coughed awkwardly under Eric’s scrutiny. Since learning that Hadley was Eric’s former wife, Denver had

always felt a bit tense around him

“Mm-hm,” Eric responded, nodding slightly while maintaining a neutral expression.

Denver seemed tense, and Eric decided to keep a careful watch on him for the evening.

Backstage, Hadley received a delivery.

“What is it?”

A colleague of Hadley’s joked, “Did Mr. Flynn drop off another surprise for you?”

“Exactly! He keeps sending these gifts, but he doesn’t even know us. He really shouldn't have to spoil us like

that!”

Hadley offered a smile but chose not to reply.

Her gut feeling was that this gesture wasn’t Eric’s doing.

Inside the takeout bag was a container filled with warm, creamy pumpkin soup.

At that moment, Hadley’s phone buzzed. She glanced at it and saw a new message from Denver.

“Hope you enjoyed the pumpkin soup.”

It was from Denver after all.

Hadley’s expression shifted to a frown, sensing a hint of unease.

Ignoring Denver's obvious advances and pretending they didn’t exist wouldn't be fair to the man.

However, she was not interested in a new relationship anytsoon.

No matter his intentions, Hadley was certain nothing could develop between them.

Moreover, if Nyla found out they were communicating, she might push for a match.

That was a situation Hadley needed to avoid at all costs.

Ignoring her divorced status, the fact remained that she was a single mother.

Hadley wasn’t ready to consider marriage soon, especially not with a decent young man with promising future

like Denver.

At that moment, Denver sat at his own table, checking his phone now and then.

Finally, when Hadley responded, his phone screen lit up.

“Are you up for grabbing a bite later? My treat tonight.”
