Chapter 402 - Too Pissed to Even Call Him Her UncleChapter 402: Too Pissed to Even Call Him Her Uncle
“If it wasn’t because Momo was on a date with him, would you still think that Upperclassman Cheng was not a nice guy?” Ming Yeqing looked toward the others. Upperclassman Cheng was keeping his distance while talking to Wen Nuanxin. “Look, to be able to go on a blind date with you, Wen Nuanxin must be from a pretty well-off family. But as you can see, Upperclassman Cheng is neither arrogant nor submissive. He doesn’t try to impress her or act all high and mighty.”
“Some people tend to impress those who are better than them as if doing so would somehow benefit them while others try to act pompous to conceal their insecurities.”
Wei Zhiqian chuckled. “Given your young age, you see things quite clearly.”
Seizing the opportunity, Ming Yeqing tried to question him again. “Brother Zhiqian, does that mean you agree with my thoughts regarding Upperclassman Cheng?”
Wei Zhiqian said nothing.
“If you agree that he’s a good fit, then why did you get so mad when you saw the two of them on a date? Brother Zhiqian, perhaps you should be asking yourself what the reason for your anger is. Was it because Upperclassman Cheng isn’t worthy, or are you simply bothered that Momo was on a date with someone else?”
After Ming Yeqing finished speaking, he smiled and looked at Qin Muye.
The more Wei Zhiqian dwelled on Ming Yeqing’s smiling face, the more he wanted to hit him in the face.
‘I ought to find a chance to beat up this kid.’
Wei Zhiqian strode forward to catch up with the gang.
“Momo,” Wei Zhiqian called out to Tan Mo, “I’ll give you a ride home.”
“That’s fine. I’ll just follow Muye’s car.” Tan Mo looked at Wen Nuanxin. “Aren’t you sending Sister Nuan home?”
Cheng Xiuze’s house was not in B City, so he had to return to the university.
“That’s okay,” Wen Nuanxin answered before he got a reply. “I drove here anyway. Giving me a ride would be inconvenient because I’d have to come back to get my car another day. I’ll just go back on my own.”
“I’m off then. You guys can sort out your transport without worrying about me,” Wen Nuanxin said graciously.
Coincidentally, her car was parked in a spot just a few steps away from the street.
After she bid goodbye to everyone, Wen Nuanxin drove off.
Qin Muye held onto Tan Mo’s arm. As if asking for a death wish, she said firmly, “Brother Zhiqian, you don’t have to go out of your way. Momo can ride in my car. There’s plenty of room. We should get going. The driver is waiting for us.”
Wei Zhiqian was taken aback.
Ming Yeqing thought, ‘We’ve certainly done enough damage for the night.’
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHe hurried to stop Qin Muye and asked Upperclassman Cheng, “Why don’t you come with us? We can all ride in Muye’s car. We’ll drop you off at the university first. Muye, let Momo go with Brother Zhiqian.”
“It’s been forever since they last met. We should give Brother Zhiqian a chance to apologize to Momo in private and maybe cheer her up, shouldn’t we?” Ming Yeqing whispered to Qin Muye.
Wei Zhiqian was speechless.
They made him sound so petty.
On top of that, did he have to cheer up Tan Mo too?
Having been reminded of that, Qin Muye thought for a moment and changed her mind. “Fine. Upperclassman Cheng, you can come with us.”
“Okay.” Without hesitation, Upperclassman Cheng said goodbye to Tan Mo and left with Qin Muye and Ming Yeqing.
As for Wei Zhiqian…
Well, he never got a chance to say anything.
In the blink of an eye, everyone left, leaving Tan Mo and Wei Zhiqian.
Tan Mo pouted. “Hmph!”
She took out her phone as if searching for something.
“What are you looking for?” Wei Zhiqian asked. “My car is just there.”
The two had not seen each other for quite some time. Tan Mo looked even prettier than before.
Wei Zhiqian gazed at Tan Mo’s petite face under the street light. Her skin was fair and glowing like a pearl in the night.
“Never mind, I’ll just call a cab back to school!” Tan Mo was pissed. Wei Zhiqian had not bothered to explain himself and now he wanted to reconcile with her.
‘Not a chance!’
Wei Zhiqian was stunned.
“It’s late. It’s dangerous for you to catch a ride home alone,” Wei Zhiqian said grimly. “If you didn’t want to ride in my car, why didn’t you just follow Muye?”
“Fine, I will!” Tan Mo immediately dialed Qin Muye’s number. “Muye, I refuse to ride in his car. Could you get your driver to turn back around and pick me up?”
She did not even want to mention his name.
Wei Zhiqian watched in silence.
The little lady was furious.
He snatched the phone from Tan Mo’s hand and spoke into her phone. “There’s no need for that. I’ll take her home.”
He then hung up the phone.
He kept Tan Mo’s phone in his hand with no intention of returning it to her.
“You didn’t want to give me a ride anyway,” Tan Mo grumbled angrily.
“When did I say that?” Wei Zhiqian asked reluctantly. “Weren’t you the one who didn’t want to get in my car?”
“You’re right. I don’t, so have Muye come back and fetch me,” Tan Mo replied feistily.
Wei Zhiqian was surprised that Tan Mo was so mad at him.
She had been panting with rage and giving him deadly stares. He was definitely not going to hear any kind words from her tonight.
There was no way he could cheer her up.
“Hand me back my phone.” Tan Mo pursed her lips and reached her hand out to Wei Zhiqian.
“Are you so mad at me that you won’t even call me ‘Uncle?'” At this point, Wei Zhiqian could not care less about keeping his pride.
All he could see or think of was Tan Mo. He only wanted her to stop being angry.
He reached out an arm and automatically gave her puffed-up cheek a little squeeze.
He had spent twelve years growing up with Tan Mo. Little intimate gestures like this had been ingrained deep within his bones. He had become so accustomed to them that it was like a natural reflex.
His hands seemed to have a life of their own when he was around Tan Mo.
Unexpectedly, Tan Mo tried to snatch her phone back from him in his state of daze.
Wei Zhiqian was quick to react. With her phone in his hand, he lifted his arm high into the sky.
The young lady was furious. Who knew what she would do once she got her phone back?
She might just run off with her phone.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAt this moment, Tan Mo seemed awfully short.
She tried her best to jump, but her fingers could barely reach the palm of Wei Zhiqian’s hand, let alone touch her phone.
Tan Mo was infuriated.
Wei Zhiqian was bullying her by taking advantage of her height.
Wei Zhiqian was not only going on blind dates behind her back, but he was also now bullying her for being short.
Tan Mo was puffing her cheeks so much that her face looked almost round.
She was like an angry little pufferfish.
With all her might, she tried to reach her phone.
She decided she was going to start practicing jumping after today.
Never again would she be taken advantage of because of her height.
Fortunately, Wei Zhiqian did not know what was going through Tan Mo’s head. Otherwise, he would have laughed at her.
Nonetheless, seeing the sight of Tan Mo’s puffed-up little face, Wei Zhiqian could not help but smile.
A pair of cold eyes turned gentle as they arched mildly, warm and kind like moonlight in the sky above.
With his tender gaze, he watched as Tan Mo hopped in front of him.
Even the corners of his mouth could not help but bend into a gentle arc.
Wei Zhiqian realized that this moment was the happiest he had been in the past three weeks.
He had not seen Tan Mo since Qin Muye’s birthday.
They had only chatted through WeChat.
Every time he chatted with her, it was the happiest time of his day.
However, every time he read Tan Mo’s texts, saying that she missed him, he could not help but feel guilt and regret. He missed her too.
His heart ached.
When he was not chatting with her, all he did was work and go on blind dates.
None of that made him happy.
