As soon as the human resource manager conveyed all the decisions, he immediately hung up the call.
Wei Keli had never thought that the manager would end the call first.
He was so infuriated that he yelled into the phone. “What the hell? How dare you hang up on me? You work for my family!”
After that, Wei Keli didn’t call Wei Zhiqian right away.
Instead, he called Wei Zhijian.
“Dad!” Wei Keli wailed as soon as his father picked the call up.
“What’s wrong?” Wei Zhijian still had no idea about the decision.
“Dad, didn’t you hear?”
“Hear what?” The father frowned.
“Wei Zhiqian is going to send me to Nacheng!” Since he was talking to his father, he didn’t even bother to call address Wei Zhiqian as his uncle anymore and used his full name instead.
“What?” Wei Zhijian exclaimed. “When did this happen?”
“Just a few minutes ago! The human resource manager from Weifeng Company called me to notify me about it. I called you as soon as that call ended!” Wei Keli was getting more anxious as he talked to his father over the phone. “Don’t you think it’s stupid? I haven’t even graduated college yet! I’m not even an employee of Weifeng Company! How can he send me to Nacheng?”
“I’ll go ask him,” Wei Zhijian grunted.
“I’m going with you,” Wei Keli said as he headed toward the campus gate. “I’ll meet you at Weifeng Company.”
Wei Zhijian did not work at Weifeng Company but one of its subsidiaries that oversaw the company’s hotels.
“Okay,” Wei Zhijian replied as he walked out of his office.
Wei Keli was the first to arrive at Weifeng Company. After a few minutes of waiting, his father arrived as well.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“What the heck is Zhiqian thinking?” Wei Zhijian scolded as he led his son into the building.
Even Wei Keli was pondering that question too.
No matter how much he racked his brain, he couldn’t recall doing anything that had angered Wei Zhiqian recently.
The only thing he could think of was when Wei Zhiqian saw him talking to Tan Mo at the campus gate.
It was clear that Wei Zhiqian was furious back then.
Wei Keli couldn’t help but think if the reason that his uncle had decided to send him to Nacheng was so that he could never run into Tan Mo again.
Wei Keli shook his head, thinking that would be too much.
Yet, he couldn’t think of any other reason either.
It was still too much of a coincidence that Wei Zhiqian would send him to Nacheng after what happened the day before.
Suddenly, Wei Keli thought of something else, something that had nothing much to do with Tan Mo.
He recalled the things that he had once told Tan Mo and that she noticed he had the intention of becoming the master of the family. To make matters worse, Wei Zhiqian overheard the whole conversation.
‘Wait... Could it be that he thinks I still want to become the master of the family?’ Wei Keli thought, believing that Wei Zhiqian was sending him away so that he would not be able to compete for that position.
That explanation made more sense to Wei Keli.
It was much more convincing than Wei Zhiqian not wanting him to get close to Tan Mo.
After a moment of hesitation, Wei Keli decided to tell his father about his conclusion.
“Dad, I think I know why Wei Zhiqian wants to send me to Nacheng...” Wei Keli whispered to his father.
“Why?” Wei Zhijian frowned.
Wei Keli told his father about what happened the day before, but in pieces that would benefit him.
“Tan Mo noticed that I plan to become the master, and Wei Zhiqian overheard everything. Maybe he thinks that I’m intending to compete with him for that spot and is sending me away so that he can win,” Wei Keli said with full of confidence.
He was proud of the conclusion that he came to.
However, Wei Zhijian was now looking at his son as if he was looking at a maniac.
He couldn’t help but agree that his son was dumber than he thought.
It made him decide to speed up the process of having a second child. He could not expect Wei Keli to achieve anything significant in the future.
Wei Zhijian could not believe that Wei Keli actually thought that he was a threat to Wei Zhiqian and that was the reason why he was being ordered to move to Nacheng.
Hearing his son saying such a thing was more than enough to prove that the young man wasn’t smart.
At the very least, Wei Keli had no idea how bad he was when compared to Wei Zhiqian.
There was no way that Wei Zhiqian would view Wei Keli as a threat when his own father found him lacking in a lot of things too.
“Dad, why are you looking at me like that?” Wei Keli was starting to get uncomfortable after getting stared at by his father for a few seconds.
Wei Zhijian remained silent for a few seconds before patting his son’s shoulder and saying, “Nothing. I just think you’re pretty confident in yourself. Don’t think too much about it. That’s not the reason.”
Wei Keli widened his eyes and looked at his father, wondering what he meant.
As Wei Zhijian and Wei Keli walked toward the elevators, the receptionists did not stop them.
It wasn’t as if they were afraid to do so. Wei Zhiqian had already notified them about the arrival of Wei Zhijian and Wei Keli.
Thus, they were already expecting guests.
Wei Zhiqian did not even try to stop them as confronting them was something unavoidable.
Instead of stalling it out, it was better to just let them give up.
That was why Wei Zhiqian told the reception to let the father and son duo in.
Because of that order, Wei Zhijian and Wei Keli entered the elevator without anyone delaying them.
There were other Weifeng Company employees inside the elevator.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThey recognized Wei Zhijian but not Wei Keli.
However, judging by how they looked alike, the employees guessed who the young man was.
Everyone knew that Wei Zhijian’s office was not at Weifeng Company’s headquarters.
That was why they couldn’t help but wonder why Wei Zhiqian was there at headquarters with his son.
Unfortunately for the father and son, the Weifeng Company employees loved to gossip.
Those who happened to be in the same elevator with them couldn’t help but study them.
Wei Keli was completely speechless and frowned, thinking that Wei Zhiqian did not do a good job at educating his staff.
He had always heard others compliment about how good Wei Zhiqian was, but he couldn’t help but wonder if that was true after seeing how undisciplined the employees were.
Wei Keli even started to think that Wei Zhiqian was just all talk.
After some of the employees got off on their floors, they immediately informed everyone in their group chat.
“Wei Zhijian is here with his son! Does anyone know why?”
“I ran into them inside the elevator just now as well!”
“What are they doing here?”
“Maybe he’s finding a job for his son here?”
“Maybe. I recall that his son is a senior now and is graduating soon. If the son is not taking any courses over the break, then he’ll have to intern at a company.”
“You’re right! Even our boss interned here when he was a graduate student!”
As the rest of the company gossiped about why Wei Zhijian and Wei Keli were at the company, the main characters of the gossip had already reached Wei Zhiqian’s office.
As Wei Zhiqian had predicted their arrival, Zhou Jingan was already waiting for them. “Mr. Wei, our president is still in a meeting. Please wait for a while.”
“Didn’t he know we are coming?” Wei Zhijian frowned.
“Yes, he did.” Zhou Jingan smiled. “But he didn’t know when you’d be arriving with your son.. If you could have informed him beforehand, he would’ve emptied his schedule for you.”
