Chapter 870: 870、In Trouble II
Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
He pulled away the safety pin and made a free toss.
BOOM!
The wet road had a crater as the muddy water splashed onto the back of Wen He’s truck. The explosion also led to a landslide as rocks began rolling down the slope.
If it was not the tactical turn Wen He made, they might be already dead.
The man unhappily spat at the rocky ground before reaching for another grenade, only bigger and likelier to fulfill his plot. He lifted his arm high and was about to lob, but the aftershock brought more landslide to the running pack as rocks rolled down towards them. As sodden by the rainfall for the past few days, the mud swarmed upon them like a river.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtOne of the giant rocks rumbled over one truck before being completely buried by the mud. The soldiers were screaming as those in the backseats were urging to drive faster while the driver led them crashing into another rock.
Wen He and Gu Jinzhi survived for being the main characters and more likely, the fact that the truck they stole was professionally modified that its body withstood the weight of the falling rock. The rock also pushed them forward willfully to the other side. Wen He felt clothes in a laundry machine as she was thrown everywhere in the car.
She grabbed the steering tight, hoping to keep the last bit of direction in control, “Gu—Gu Jinzhi...” In darkness she could barely see, she whispered his name.
A moment later, her head knocked into something. This caused her to faint and lose grip as she was thrown almost out of the window at the very back.
Nevertheless, a giant arm held her and flipped her over.
That was all she could feel in the darkness before she passed out.
When she regained consciousness, the quake had stopped yet it was still dark around her. Her body felt constrained, the space was so cramped she could barely stretch herself. Her thin body curled up in the squashed space. She tried lifting her arms but the weight upon her was hopeless.
Their truck was probably pressed against the rock.
“Are you okay?” Gu Jinzhi softly spoke. Wen He retreated at first but soon her surprised look was replaced by simple joy.
She pulled out her arm from underneath the seat despite the pain as she felt every surface in front of her, “Where are you?”
“Right next to you.”
Wen He tried turning towards the other side but it was very difficult.
“Don’t move...” Gu Jinzhi’s hoarse voice rang as a reminder.
“As you probably notice, the truck is standing as we are stuck between rocks. Even a bit of motion could cause another landslide...”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmWen He stayed still, “Well, where are you approximately? Are you wounded?”
Even a professional killer like her felt the need of an ambulance as her arm ached like a fracture, let alone a warfield prince like Gu Jinzhi.
“I might be stuck here but maybe you can move. Can you try moving to me?” Said Wen He, waving her hand gently.
Gu Jinzhi chuckled, “You aren’t free Wen He and you want to protect me?”
“I’m not free. I’m just strong, stronger than you, at least.”
“Yes, yes, you are absolutely right.”
That’s new. Gu Jinzhi did not have a debate with me this time.
The man laughed wryly, “I’m stuck between the window while one of my feet is right underneath a rock outside. I probably have a fracture, I can’t seem to pull my leg out.”
“What?” Wen He was shocked and was trying to move towards him yet she was stopped again by Gu Jinzhi, “It’s nothing, really. We survived, anyway.”
