Chapter 256 I’ll Agree to Anything
Josephine finally typed her reply after reading the chat history. “I’m not planning anything.”
Quintin sent another message. “Where are you right now?”
The young woman raised her head to look in the direction of the school gates. Then, she looked down
and sent the address to Quintin.
Whenever the latter received addresses from Josephine, they always surprised him. He could never
understand why she would be in such weird places.
He didn’t dwell on that thought for too long. It wasn’t long before Quintin drove to the Elysium University
of Finance. He quickly spotted Josephine, who was sitting on the sidewalk
He parked his car at the roadside before getting out and jogging to her side. “Josephine!”
The aforementioned woman looked up at him upon hearing his voice. With a smile on his face, Quintin
handed her a cup of coffee. “It’s hot.”
The sight of that smile caused her to space out for a moment. She was only able to regain her senses
once she felt the cup of coffee being pushed into her hands.
“What are you doing here?” Quintin asked.
Josephine turned to look at him. His smile was warm and radiant, just like the sun hiding behind the
clouds. That smile was especially pure and innocent in a white world like this.
Once again, she had a dazed expression on her face.
Quintin waved a hand in front of Josephine’s face. “What’s wrong with you?”
The latter quickly snapped out of her trance, and she shook her head in response. She placed the
coffee cup on the spot next to her before gesturing, “I’m waiting for someone.”
“You’re waiting for someone?” Quintin shot a glance at the school gates in confusion. Did Josephine
know a student from that university?
The young woman nodded as she ripped her gaze off Quintin’s face and focused it back on the gates
before her.
Indeed, she was waiting for someone. However, that person would never return to her side.
“Is that person your friend?”
Josephine caressed the cup holder that was latched around the cup with her fingers, choosing
to remain silent this time.
Since she wasn’t answering his question, the man decided to drop the topic. “I’ll wait with you, then.
Once that person comes out, I’ll treat you both to a meal.”

wearing white down jackets. In a way, it made them look like they were wearing
matching jackets.
No one doubted their ages, seeing as they both sported youthful faces and were sitting across from the
university.
Everyone thought they were a young couple.
Meanwhile, Lewis never got out of his car. Several cigarette butts were littering the spot
outside his car window.
Conrad called him on the phone afterward. Even when Lewis answered the call, his gaze never left the
two silhouettes sitting on the sidewalk.
“Chairman Alvarez, are you still coming to the company today?”
“What’s wrong?”
“Mrs. Moss is here.”
Lewis paused for a moment before looking at the pair again. Then, he said to Conrad, “I’ll be there
soon.”
“Understood.”
After ending the call, the man stared at the duo for a few more seconds before averting his gaze. Then,
he turned the car around and left.
Mrs. Moss, also known as Amelia Carter, was Derek’s mother. The reason why she came looking for
Lewis was to plead for her son, hoping that he could spare Derek’s life.
Once Lewis arrived at the meeting room, Amelia stood up right away just to greet him.
“Lewis.”
The man nodded at her before motioning for her to sit down and chat.
Amelia looked like she had aged a lot recently. Ever since Lily and her children died in the fire, she
started wilting away rapidly.
She could no longer handle the pain of losing another child, hence her decision to talk to
Lewis.
“Lewis-no, Mr. Alvarez, I know all about what Derek did. Regardless of his intention and purpose, what
he did is still wrong. That’s why I’m here to apologize on his behalf.”
Lewis lit a cigarette before leaning against the chair lazily. He chose to listen to Amelia’s words quietly
for now.
After a moment of silence, Amelia continued, “I’m willing to agree to any condition as long as
you spare Derek’s life.”
Lewis didn’t speak up. He seemed to be in deep thought as he flicked some cigarette ash into the
ashtray.
A while later, he looked at Amelia. “Didn’t he tell you anything after he got home?”
“What?”
Lewis explained, “He visited me once. I told him my condition. Unfortunately, he refused to accept it.
Amelia asked hurriedly, “What’s your condition, Mr. Alvarez?”
“Simple. I want all of the Moss family’s shares,” the man replied.
Amelia’s eyes widened by a fraction. She could only stare at Lewis in disbelief, clearly not expecting
him to be so greedy to the point that he demanded for the Moss family’s shares.
They might be shares, but to the Moss family, those shares were akin to their family business.
It was equivalent to Lewis asking for full control over Moss Corporation.
“I-Is this a joke, Mr. Alvarez?”
Lewis replied absentmindedly, “Do you really think I have that much free time on my hands, Mrs.
Moss? Why would I joke with you?”
The older woman fell silent after that. At the same time, she understood the reason why Derek had
refused Lewis’ condition. Anyone in her shoes today would get up and leave the meeting room right
away after hearing such an unreasonable demand.
Lewis didn’t want to negotiate with the Moss family at all. He wanted them dead.
However, the one sitting in front of him right now was Amelia. She was a mother; her son’s
life mattered much more than mere profits.
She asked hesitantly, “I-Is there really no other way to solve this dispute?”
“Isn’t this a solution, Mrs. Moss?”
“How could this be a solution? Can’t you name any other condition other than this one?” Amelia gazed
at Lewis emotionally in an attempt to emotionally manipulate him. “At the end of the day, Lily was still
your older sister, which makes Derek your brother-in-law. We’re all one big family, you know? Why
must we fight each other like this? Lily and her children were all innocent. Why don’t you put yourself in
Derek’s shoes? Think about it; if you were Derek, what would you do if you encountered this incident?”
Amelia gazed at Lewis, hoping to see his expression starting to waver. Unfortunately, she was unable
to see anything.
That man was more cold-blooded than she thought.

Lewis stated, “Mrs. Moss, if you can’t accept this condition, then please go home.”
He stood his ground firmly without intending to withdraw from his initial decision. As a result, Amelia’s
complexion became pale.
“You-”
The man interrupted her immediately. “Mrs. Moss, you should know very well that it’s impossible for me
and Derek to settle this dispute peacefully. As you said just now, if Derek were in my shoes, would he
allow himself to leave a potential risk alone?”
Amelia’s body shook violently as she stared at Lewis blankly. She couldn’t get a single word even after
a while.
The man continued, “You can think about it properly after you go home. Derek has already made his
choice. You can’t decide anything for him anyway. Besides, it’s useless for you to waste your breath on
me.”
Amelia remained silent. She was weighing the pros and cons at the moment.
Kenneth Moss, Derek’s father, had poor health, hence his inability to deal with such things. Besides, he
had a poor heart. The consequences he had to face would be dire should he get triggered by any
external factors.
If Derek were to go to jail, it would be impossible for the Moss family to protect themselves. Now, the
game was all about who could gain ownership over Moss Corporation.
Derek could not withstand the humiliation, so he didn’t want to entrust the company into Lewis’ hands.
However, everyone knew very well that agreeing to Lewis’ condition was the best solution for their
company. All it depended on was their ability to withstand the humiliation.
Amelia felt extremely conflicted on the inside. After thinking for some time, she finally raised her head
with renewed resolve shining in her
eyes.
“I can make the decision for the rest of my family. Will you promise to spare the Moss family after we
entrust Moss Corporation to you?”
Lewis wasn’t surprised to hear such a request. He remained impassive as he replied, “Of course.
“Then-”
Before Amelia could finish her sentences, the meeting room door was suddenly opened from the
outside. Derek stormed into the room angrily the next second.
“I will never agree to this!”
