Chapter 257 Love Yourself Before You Love Someone
Baz was caught in the middle now, “Mr. Cedric said he’s not going, Ms. Maia. There’s no changing his mind. I–I can’t go against
his orders, but we have some medicine in the car. Should we have him take it and see how it goes?”
“What? He’s in so much pain he’s sweating!” Maia looked at Cedric angrily, “Are you going to the hospital, Cedric? I’m going to
ignore you if you don’t!”
“You’re already doing that.” He smiled bitterly and said, “I’m the one to blame for it.”
Nobody realized just how much he wanted Maia to care about him. He would gladly take it even if it meant her nagging him and
throwing temper tantrums.
He would revel in it because it meant she loved him from the bottom of her heart. However, he could no longer see any signs
that suggested she loved him these days.
“Read the room, Cedric. Why are you talking about this now? Hurry up and go to the hospital. Get your stomach checked
thoroughly. It wasn’t in great condition to begin with. Can you take better care of yourself?”
“I lost you. What’s the point?” He shook his head and propped himself up. He looked pale. He was only human after all. He could
feel the pain in his stomach.
Maia said, “Didn’t you always say you wanted to marry me again? Didn’t you always say you love me? How are you supposed to
prove all of that if you’re dead?
“Are those words merely empty promises? You must love yourself before you can love others. How am I supposed to believe that
you really love me when you don’t even love yourself?”
Cedric used to direct all of his attention to work. He brought his company to the peak of success and conglomerated HL
Corporation and KN Corporation into a single entity. He worked tirelessly like a robot and never took care of himself.
Now, it seemed that he shifted his entire focus onto her. He had put everything aside for her, including his life. He was still the
same man who never took care of himself.
It was silent in the lobby. Cedric’s eyes flickered. Something changed in him because of what
“We’re off to the hospital, Baz.”
Baz was stunned. He looked at Maia and gave her a thumbs up. He was really impressed. Maia was the only person who could
make his master listen to reason!
“I’ll bring the car around right now!” Baz rushed out of the lobby and took the elevator, leaving Maia and Cedric alone.

Cedric looked at her lovingly, “I’ll get myself checked. So, will you listen to me and get some rest?”
Maia was startled. Then, she nodded. “Very well.”
He chuckied. Then, he held the pain in his stomach and got ready to leave. He did not get far before he could no longer tolerate
it. His grip on the door handle tightened and he started sweating profusely.
Maia watched him and pursed her lips. She knew how excruciating it was when he had gastritis. What she did not know was that
the pain had assailed Cedric for a long time when he forced open the elevator door.
Then, he proceeded to carry her up twelve floors and cleaned her wounds. He did all of that despite the pain in his stomach.
When Maia was finally safe, he could no longer just grit his teeth and bear it.
The next moment, he pushed open the lobby door and walked with much difficulty.
“Cedric!” Maia sensed something was off and called out for him at once. She rushed at him, trying to hold him up.
However, she was too late. Cedric passed out and fell into her embrace!
“Cedric. Cedric!” Maia yelled frantically. He did not respond. His face was contorted into a mask of pain. She quickly gave Baz a
phone call.
“Cedric passed out, Baz.”
“What?” He exclaimed, “I’m coming at once, Ms. Maia. I don’t think we can go to the hospital. Some people might make up
stories and put them in tomorrow’s newspaper if they saw Cedric in an ambulance.”
“Call Franklin now.”
“Got it.”
him and shook his head, “It’s the same old condition
again.”
“That’s right, Mr. Franklin/Please do what you can for Mr. Cedric.”
Baz was worried. Maia lowered her gaze, stood some distance away from Cedric, and kept quiet.
Franklin stared at her and sighed. Then, he checked on Cedric. Rita told Maia that Franklin had known Cedric since he was
young. He was a dear friend of Cedric’s father.

Renowned in the medical field, Franklin moved back to Prismara and became Cedric’s
personal doctor after he let his son take over his business. He was doing it as a favor to his
dear friend.
A moment latér, he administered an intravenous drip to Cedric, “His stomach is going give out if he keeps this up. He had a
gastrorrhagia about a year ago.
“Did you forget about that, Baz? Why did you let him do this to himself?”
Baz was distressed. “You know how Mr. Cedric is, Mr. Franklin. He won’t listen to anything I say. It’ll be disastrous if he sends me
to the South Pole or Africa as a result.”
Franklin sighed helplessly. He knew how Cedric was.
“If he keeps this up, then not even miracle doctors could save him.” He shook his head and handed Baz some medicine. “Make
sure he takes these. He has to take good care of his stomach!”
Baz took the pills and nodded. “I’ll do my best, Franklin! Mr. Cedric didn’t take any of the ones you gave him last time...”
“What?” Franklin started hitting Baz. “Do you want to run that by me again?” He was furious.
Baz lowered his head. “I reminded Mr. Cedric dutifully every day, Mr, Franklin. However, he just won’t take them. Sometimes,
he’ll even forget to take his lunch, much less his medicine...”
Franklin was displeased, “What good is an assistant if you can’t do this, Baz?”
Baz kept his head lowered and said helplessly, “I’m very good at my job.”
“Hmph! Good? Your master wouldn’t have had stomach problems from time to time if you had been good at your job!”
“It’s Ms. Maia’s duty to remind him to take his medicine. Mr. Cedric only listens to her. There’s nothing I can do. He might not
even have listened to you, Mr. Franklin.” Baz pretended to wipe away tears and win some sympathy points..
