Chapter 2011 The Final Mistake
Next, while Joyce was busy with other matters, Iris stayed by her brothers’ side, entertaining them from tto time. When Wilson
woke up, she held his little hand, playing with him for a while. She then went to tease Cullen. Cullen was sleeping soundly and was
woken up by Iris playing with him. He started crying discontentedly.
Mrs. Powell had to pick up Cullen and comfort him. When Joyce returned and saw Cullen crying, she immediately understood what
had happened. She gently touched Iris's head, "Were you mischievous again, huh?"
Iris mischievously stuck out her tongue, "Cullen was sleeping all the tand not playing with me, so | called him to wake up."
Mrs. Powell chuckled, "Little babies need more sleep. Iris, don't worry, just wait a year. When your brothers can walk, they will be
able to play with you."
Iris was not too satisfied, "It's too long, | can't wait. Can't | grow up immediately? Mom, why do | not have any memories of my
childhood? Was | cute like this when | was little?"
"... " This question made Joyce pause for a moment. She didn't know how to answer. In fact, Iris had been in a coma, always
staying in an incubator. When she finally woke up, she fell into Athena's hands, and Iris was unaware of this.
Joyce squatted down, embraced Iris, and whispered, "Of course. You're too young now to remember things from a few months ago.
Understand? You need to grow up for your memory to be stronger."
"Oh, I understand." Iris nodded innocently.
Joyce hugged Iris tightly, filled with heartache. It was for the best; with the fading of past memories, Iris might soon forget
completely the dark experience with Athena. Fear would be completely eradicated from Iris's heart.
Therefore, no matter what might happen in the future, Joyce would never let Iris be hurt again. Her young heart was too fragile to
withstand a second blow.
"You're huggingtoo tight, Mommy." Iris pushed Joyce away.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Oh, sorry." Joyce quickly let Iris go and then picked her up again.
At that moment, Mrs. Brown cin and said, "Madam Du is here."
"Really?" Joyce's eyes lit up. Her mother's presence brought an inexplicable sense of security.
"Why didn't she cin?" Joyce asked.
"lI saw Madam Du talking to Mr. Warner outside, maybe she'll cin a little later," Mrs. Brown replied.
"Okay, I'll go over there now." Joyce quickly put Iris down.
Iris grabbed Joyce's sleeve, "Mommy, | want to go find Grandma with you. | miss Grandma so much."
Joyce turned around, "Iris, wait for a little while. | have a few words to say to Grandma. I'll cfind you soon, okay?"
Mrs. Brown then held Iris in her arms and said, "I'll play with you, okay?"
Iris pouted, "No, | don't want it. You don't know how to play the things | like."
Mrs. Brown was at a loss, indeed, chicken games, slingshots, darts, and so on; how could a woman like her play them. However,
since the children here were all from a warlord background, she couldn't appease them.
Joyce laughed, "Iris, don't make it difficult for Mrs. Brown. Where is Instructor Qin? Didn't he ctogether?"
Joyce looked around.
Mrs. Brown said, "Oh, Instructor Qin said he's surveying the surroundings and will be back soon."
Joyce nodded lightly. They were all products of warlords, and when in a new environment, the first thing they did was to familiarize
themselves with the surroundings. After continuous training, it had becinstinctive behavior.
"Okay, when he comes back, let Iris go with him first," Joyce instructed.
Mrs. Brown nodded, "Yes, Madam."
After settling things here, Joyce quietly walked to the front of the villa. Sure enough, she saw Luther and Cecelia talking under the
portico.
She didn't know what they were discussing, but Cecelia's face looked serious, and Luther was gesturing as if describing a plan to
Cecelia.
Joyce walked over. Luther pulled her to his side when he saw her, "You're here, | was just discussing with Mom about the details of
the wedding the day after tomorrow and how to see off the guests after it's over."
Cecelia smiled, "It's been a while since we last met. You look much better now, your cheeks are rosy. He must be taking good care
of you."
Joyce subconsciously touched her cheek and felt a bit embarrassed.
"Don't stand here; let's go inside and talk." She took Cecelia's hand, "Iris is waiting for you inside, and so are Wilson and Cullen.
Anderson and Kane went to check the control room at the pavilion and will be back shortly."
"Alright. | miss Wilson and Cullen, as well as Iris. | dream of their chubby faces every night." Cecelia's eyes were filled with
tenderness.
With that, they all walked into the room. Iris was the first to rush into Cecelia's embrace, "Grandma, | feel like it's been a century
since | last saw you."
Cecelia chuckled, "Who taught you to talk like this, you have such a sweet mouth."
"l wasn't taught; | was born with it," Iris stuck out her tongue.
Luther laughed lightly. Now Iris truly felt like a part of their family. He beckoned, "Chere, Iris, cto Dad for a hug."
"Okay, Daddy hug." Iris turned around and fell into Luther's embrace.
Cecelia hadn't seen Wilson and Cullen for stime, and they had just woken up. Watching them hug each other brought her
great comfort.
They enjoyed sfamily time.
At that moment, Chinn returned from scouting the area. When he saw Cecelia, he respectfully greeted her, "Madam Du."
Cecelia waved him off, "Go on, take Iris to the woods to play with the slingshot. It's a good opportunity.”
"Wow, | want to play," Iris perked up, immediately sliding down from Luther and following Chinn out.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Be careful," Joyce couldn't help but remind.
"Please rest assured, | will take good care of the young lady," Chinn promised solemnly.
After Chinn took Iris away, Joyce stayed with Luther and Cecelia in the living room.
Mrs. Brown brought in tea, then stepped back tactfully.
"Luther has already toldabout the situation at home," Cecelia said after taking a sip of tea. "Enemies are everywhere. Even if |
take all four kids to the warlords, there's no guarantee there won't be any spies around. If | had known this, | shouldn't have let
Joyce get involved with the warlords. It was indeed our final mistake."
